Any plans going on with the old Lone Star Brewery?

I passed by the old Lone Star Brewery a few weeks ago and noticed some guys surveying the property. Does anybody have any clue on what they're gonna do with the place? Will it be another urban development like the Pearl brewery?

An Austin developer had big plans and sold a pre-sold a bunch of condos, but then I think they went bankrupt without turning any dirt at the site. I have no idea who owns it now or what their plans may be.

I think plans for the brewery are pretty much on hold until Newell Recycling can find a new home.

EN Article

I was surprised I missed this last year. Read the article for full content, but basically it says that Newell was bought out by a national recycling firm last year. At the time of the article (no idea if this has changed) Newell also owned The Lone Star site. It suggests that the firm would be look at the competitive landscape in central Texas for it to have steel recycling there (this is the noisy part of the operation), there might be potential for that part to move away and the site to be redeveloped.

Would be pretty fantastic if this happened. You just don't get too many chances at a site that big near downtown.

It's about time! I walked by there two weeks ago and saw some guys mowing the grass there. They also took down the banner that said welcome to lone star brewery at the front gate. It'll be great to see this place transform into a mixed use development

Well, we've been here before at least once. I guess we'll have to wait and see if the new owner is able to accomplish anything.

So I passed by lone star brewery about an hour ago, they're actually doing some work in the beer garden area. I talked to one of the guys there and they said they're just doing some work to show off the place to some investors.
