Tasty renders Vellu. Bourne looks like a very pleasant city to live in. I notice the slight warping in the glass reflection. Each render must take a long time to set up. Look forward to seeing how you'll expand the centre.

Thanks, Flamesrule and Pingyao! Yeah the renders take quite long to set up. Especially the indoor renders since almost every material needs to be adjusted. I guess that's the disadvantage of having separate modeler and renderer.

An update: Cambridge Place is a mixed-use building at the west side of downtown Bourne. Above the two story base there's 12 stories of offices and then apartments in the two 19 story towers. The total height to the roof is 135 m / 443 ft, making Cambridge Place the third tallest building in Bourne.

When the plans for the building were announced in 1987, they generated lot of complaints from the resindents of the Oxford House, Cambridge Place's neighbour to the west. Oxford House is the most prestigious apartment building in Bourne and Cambridge Place was going to totally block the views towards the city. Eventually all the complaints were rejected and the Cambridge Place was completed in 1991.

A total view from southwest:

A view from the street level:

A view from the penthouse looking west out to the lake:

love it, very elegant design with the slight curve on the balconys. That first shot hints at the skyline of Bourne for the first time I think - most of the other views have always been a street level. I love the attention to detail, the streets, the parks -how is sketchup holding up? Your interiors are great. At first I thought the lake was a tsunami coming towards camera lol!

LOL its 443 feet tall (which is 135 meters).
It isn't just the render settings. I've started doing some post pro in PS aswell (color correction, sharpening etc.).

Cambridge Place was inspired by the twin towered apartment buildings on NYC's Central Park West. The problem with aerials at this stage is that I want to avoid showing any unfinished areas and I still have a lot of them. An aerial will be given once I finish the second section. That's still a few updates away, though. Once I have more of the city modeled, it will be easier to give aerials without revealing undeveloped areas.

The Oxford House is an luxurious apartment building finished in 1917. It was the largest aparment building in Bourne until 1960's, but today it still has the most sought after aparments - especially on the western side with the lake views. The eastern side apartments used to have great views of downtown until the completion of the Cambridge Place. The Oxford House is 66 meters / 217 feet, with 15 floors.

Well, my summer vacation is ending so unfortunately Bourne will return to the very-slow-update mode.

Looking northwest over West Van Buren Avenue. There's four buildings over 100 meters in view, from left to right: The Imperial, 105 meters / 344 feet (more of this building later); Cambridge Place 135 m / 443 ft; ABA Building 113 m / 371 ft; and New York Building, 127 m / 417 ft.

File size with the low poly buildings is about 12 MB at the moment.

Update: Looking west on West Van Buren Avenue. The avenues western end is framed with tall residential buildings: on the left the Park Plaza Apartments and on the right the Imperial.

The Imperial is the tallest all-residential building in Bourne with the height of 105 meters / 344 feet. It was built in 2007 and has 27 stories. It is the 7th tallest building in Bourne altogether.

A bedroom on the 13th floor. Looking northeast.
