It reminds me of the Hullmark Centre in North York.

A much quicker drawing (not mine), but another perspective of 300 Main in Winnipeg:

Wait.... There's other places in Canada besides Toronto??!! Who knew

Great work with the images as always Koops. I appreciate your effort. Was surprised to see ScotiaPlaza could soon be all but lost from view from the lake.

What a great addition to the Downtown and skyline.

Toronto is where 90% of the action is , that's why. There are literally dozens of 200m+ towers u/c or approved/proposed that would transform the skyline.

Um...that's a contradiction. In a city chock full of 200 meters or near towers and, how much of a difference does anybody think the addition of more will make? Don't get me wrong, it's great that T.O. is building so much and so tall but let's get real here: It's not going to be that noticeable when there are dozens of them.

Really, no.

It's a little taller than the other buildings but not nearly as much of a difference in height as Stantec versus Manulife in Edmonton. The main difference it will make is on that corner. Postcard stuff.

The supertalls will surely be noticeable...

I get your point...but it's rather vague. Toronto has 28 towers of 200+ metred in terms of height that will be built if not already are. In comparison to the 2860 towers in the city that will also be if not are already built. Going down to 190+ m tall buildings, there's still just 33 buildings.

What I'm really trying to say is that yes, many of these towers won't make much of a difference in the skyline (they will now, and for a few years or longer....) in a general sense, especially in a place like downtown where that density is more justified, but some of these towers WILL have a lasting impression on the skyline that won't go away, for they can't be blocked by another building (unless you go into the 2100's...or some strange hypo-theory).

Many current towers in the downtown area won't make much of a difference in the skyline, but some parts of the downtown or the rest of the city won't have much transition to make these towers less jarring in the skyline...like E Condos, which will always have an impact, for it's in an area where that type of height is not simple to justify (unless you're located where it is), though for the Etobicoke Sun towers, and the LCBO towers, the very candid, tourist/postcard angle views of the city where these towers would make the most impact makes it so that they're always going to make a great impact in the skyline of the view. The skylines of these areas do change a great deal, since zoning and demand allow for such, but from different views, those towers will never lose their role in the skyline.

Yes, if they're spread out far enough from each other. The One will certainly have an impact. I also happen to think that some of them are absolutely gorgeous so that alone will affect the look of the skyline.

That said, for whatever reason, they're all practically the same height. Nothing at all sticks out in terms of height. Only the YSL proposal has enough height to make a difference and even it's not that much taller than FCP (in a relative sense, obviously)

In any case, other than beefing up the skyline, I can't see how the average person is going to see any great difference. I mean, if you're in Toronto and live there, sure, you'll maybe notice but nobody from outside of the region is going to look at the skyline in 10 years and say "Wow!!! It's so different!" Yes, somebody who actually walks around the area is going to say that but from afar it will hardly be noticeable.

The problem with so many people on these forums is that they think the average person looks at buildings and skylines the same way they do. They don't. We look at it and notice every detail because it's just the way we are. The average person has a much less emotionally involved response to buildings of any height; Either the building looks okay or it doesn't. Either it impacts their life directly or it doesn't. There's no "Look at the glazing. Just hideous!", "Cantilevered? What were they thinking!?", "Where's the street interaction!?" They see a box (or whatever basic shape the building is) They're not going to see any difference at all unless it really punches up to new heights.
