I get your point...but it's rather vague. Toronto has 28 towers of 200+ metred in terms of height that will be built if not already are. In comparison to the 2860 towers in the city that will also be if not are already built. Going down to 190+ m tall buildings, there's still just 33 buildings.
What I'm really trying to say is that yes, many of these towers won't make much of a difference in the skyline (they will now, and for a few years or longer....) in a general sense, especially in a place like downtown where that density is more justified, but some of these towers WILL have a lasting impression on the skyline that won't go away, for they can't be blocked by another building (unless you go into the 2100's...or some strange hypo-theory).
Many current towers in the downtown area won't make much of a difference in the skyline, but some parts of the downtown or the rest of the city won't have much transition to make these towers less jarring in the skyline...like E Condos, which will always have an impact, for it's in an area where that type of height is not simple to justify (unless you're located where it is), though for the Etobicoke Sun towers, and the LCBO towers, the very candid, tourist/postcard angle views of the city where these towers would make the most impact makes it so that they're always going to make a great impact in the skyline of the view. The skylines of these areas do change a great deal, since zoning and demand allow for such, but from different views, those towers will never lose their role in the skyline.
