Victoria High is a public school? That is beautiful and 10000x nicer than any highschool I've seen around here. Everything really is better in BC isn't it

Nice photos FrAnKs - I like the Quebec blue and white colour theme you have going on here!

A recent photo of the industrial part of Hamilton harbour from the west:

With many of Stelco's buildings demolished, the "steel plant" skyline is much different than it used to be.

Maybe we need a Great Canadian Schools thread, lol. I have no idea what school generally look like in Ontario to be honest. I suppose schools in BC are well maintained and billions of dollars are being poured into earthquake proofing older schools and where that’s not feasible building new modern schools. No politician wants to have dozens or hundreds of dead kids on their conscience. They’ve even put off seismic upgrades to the BC Parliament buildings - that won’t be done until all the schools are complete. Even then the cost would be prohibitive and its seems the direction now is to rebuild after the fact if it’s possible.

As for the Victoria High school, yes, it’s a public school, inner city high school in fact. A great building with a very unique gym with a running track overlooks it and a gorgeous theatre inside. The old saying that circle the gym are hilariously from a bygone age unfortunately, such as “We will seek to win by fair and lawful means”, “We will treat all athletic opponents as guests and treat them with courtesy” “We love the game for its own sake and not for the glory of winning” “Will never attempt to rattle an opposing player”

There is a series of YouTube videos on how they updated the building, the earlier ones are more in-depth in terms of the seismic approach, but here’s the final update:

Close to Vic High is the public middle school, Central Middle School, which has its own unique style with mid-century touches.

It wasn't really my goal to come with this color palette, but now that you say it, I think it matches well with our National flag!

I always thought of Ashton as an Eastern Québec thing, like Irving gas stations.

I went to Ashton in Q city and I wasn't impressed. Give me the roadside independent guys anyday.

When I moved to Québec City in 2011, everybody told me Ashton was THE place to go for Poutines but I had never really loved them.

Firstly, they use frozen instead of fresh potatoes, which is not good. Secondly, their restaurants seems to be ''aging'' which is not as welcoming for me.

I much prefer Fromagerie Victoria, which seems to slowly take Ashton's market in this area.

WW2 HMCS warships look way more badass than their modern counterparts. Even though Haida is only a destroyer, it looks as mean as the heavyweight battleships.
