BOISE -- Boise State's new football complex is being built to impress!

Boise State released 31 behind-the-scenes photos of the Broncos' new football complex on their Facebook page today, and you can clearly see it has a wow factor already with two months left until completion.

wasn't the new graphic arts building design supposed to be on the fast track? haven't seen any updates lately.

there was an article in the statesman this weekend about the Fine Arts building. the article said preliminary costs of the project was about $35 million, though there's a possibility that a mystery donor could add significantly to that amount and make the facility even larger.

the article also mentioned that there are only two more buildings to be completed to finish the 2005 BSU plan: the Fine Arts building and a Sciences building.

that actually surprised me considering the amount of empty land left around campus, and that the plan had all that land filled with dorms, parking garages and other facilities.

it'll be an interesting story to watch, and hopefully these two buildings can be constructed soon.

Cheerleaders Sports Bar & Grill is opening a new restaurant across from Boise State University.

Renovations of a former daycare building at 815 Ann Morrison Drive started in June and are scheduled to finish in September. The 7,200-square-foot-restaurant will have seating for up to 400 people, including an outdoor enclosed patio now under construction.

i wonder if we'll hear or see anything on the proposed graphic arts building this summer?

the story indicated they were on a fast track to get it done.

Boise State Pushes for a New Fine Arts Building:

BoiseBro: Funny you should ask, it looks like the Idaho Statesman just came out with an article back on June 16th.

Boise State's decadelong construction boom is coming to an end

By BILL ROBERTS — broberts@idahostatesman.com

Boise State University has poured nearly $300 million into new campus buildings since 2004 and helped shape the school as a technology-based, regional research university.

But now, the school is bumping up against its capacity to sell construction bonds.

Only two structures are left in the school's plan: fine arts and science.

After constructing research, sports, parking and housing structures, the school is pushing for a 90,000- to 120,000-square-foot building to bring its fine arts program under one roof. The structure would face Capitol Boulevard sitting between the Micron Business and Economics building to the south and the John B. Barnes Towers to the north.

The estimated cost of the building is $35 million. Boise State hopes to pay for it through the state's permanent building fund, sale of construction bonds and private financing.

School officials don't have a final design of the building yet from architectural firms LCA in Boise and HGA in Minneapolis. But the new fine arts center will likely be U-shaped with the art gallery facing onto Capitol, said Richard Young, art department chairman.

Boise State is exploring the possibility of a gift from a "significant" art collector who lives out of state, said university President Bob Kustra. He declined to name the person, but said if it happens, the building could be expanded.

yeah, that was the article i was referring to (well... that one and another that i think was in the boise weekly).

if they're hot to get this project started and it's already in the design phase, maybe we'll hear something later this summer before the new school year starts.

As always, thanks for the great pictures Architecture Buff!!!

BoiseBro: I am eager to see more about this as well, hopefully something will come out soon, it seems like they should be due to announce something sooner than later in my mind. With so much being finished on campus they will need to spotlight something new or in the works.

If it's the buildings that I'm thinking of, they will open up room for the area that my friends always tailgate at for football games. So selfishly, I'm in favor.

New rendering alert!!

Here is the first image of the new Fine Arts Building. I guess it was posted 6 days ago on the Boise State website, can't believe it took me that long to find it!

I'm looking everywhere for a larger rendering but have yet to find one. Man, this week's been an outstanding one for rendering updates! On another note, I think it's high time for me to update the main thread, now that this and the much anticipated JUMP have been unveiled.

So what do you think of the new design? I'm digging it... much different than I was expecting but in a very good way.

BSU installs $13,000 solar-powered picnic table

by Bonnie Shelton
KTVB.COM

BOISE -- Boise State University is creating conversation about conservation on campus. That's because university officials recently installed a solar-powered picnic table used to charge portable electronic devices.

The new Solar Power-Dok station is made mostly out of recycled materials and is completely powered by the sun. It's at a main intersection on campus, so students can plug-in and recharge their cell phones, tablets and laptops.

Rendering showing the most current design for the new Alumni Center. Seems smaller than previous proposals which has me wondering if they had difficulty fundraising.
