Kista -> Stockholm: a walk. & forests.

A couple of days ago I took a long walk, all the way from my hood to the heart of the city (about 10km as the crow flies). The camera's
batteries didn't last all the way, but they lasted long enough to get a couple hundred shots and only gave out just as I was within a
stone's throw of the Inner City.

Kista
my hood

1 - on the left is a huge block that is getting redevloped into far denser almost-urban smaler blocks.

2 - The planned LRT will run in this gap

3 - planned phasing of a new convention center and 41s hotel

4 - hold on, the phasing plan said the tower was to start in aug 08, but this text says aug 09. so... maybe not at all?

Helenelund
across the interstate and railtracks from my hood, this is a different municipality: Sollentuna.

Silverdal
a new rowhouse 'burb in Sollentuna. looked like there was about 2 parking spaces per unit. Eco-friendly city with lowered pollution
as a goal? yeah right.

22 - The tall one is Danderyd's hospital, one of the larger ones in the burbs.

Bergshamra
right next to Kungshamra, a better blend, but still almost only commieblacks and newish suburban higrises.

Nationalstadsparken
the National City Park. Ignore the "City" part, it's all about experiencing the un-touched-by-humans nature, according to it's fans.
All of it is fake to some degree, it's all been used by humans for many a century. but it's important that you can't see any new
buildings from it for some reason. Oh mighty Thor, please strike down the nimbys now!

33 - hehe, took a while for the nimbys to be overruled, but there is a new, somewhat urban, area u/c clearly visible from the park

34

35 - A hill we're gonna see some views from and the SAS HQ.

36 - that's the edge of the Inner City in the back

42 - what's that?

43 - it's the National NaturalHistory Museum! (aka Naturhistoriska Riksmuséet)

44 - SAS HQ

45 - a fancy hotel on the left, and a far older building on the right.

46 - "Rent offices here!"

47 - Now we're on the hill. This is the E4 heading north from Stockohlm.

48 - see the crane in the middle distance? the one that doesn't break the horizon? That's Silverdal.

49 - w00t! my hood. 2nd tallest in Sweden.

Norra Länken
the North Link, a motorway tunnel that will make the motorway ring around the inner city go from half a ring to three quarters.
10 years late due to 1 nimby (oh, and billions over original budget. Thanx, nimby)

SLUT
(Swedish for "the end")
