^^^ It will be several stories (probably more like 7 or 8) shorter than CNA (Red Building) when it is completed. That should give you some idea of its size.

So about as high as where the highest point on the crane is right now?

Dying to see the curtainwall rise on this - it will be a highlight of Summer 2011.

Completely OT, but I went by the Fine Arts building, just in front of the new tower and noticed they still haven't cleaned the entire facade. I've never understood why. The landlord of this building (which happens to be the same one as my apartment) is extremely obsessed with keeping their buildings in perfect condition. I've almost thought the grime on the facade is kept that way for a purpose as a sign of "old Chicago." I've thought of asking my landlord about it.....

Perhaps the cleaning process would be too damaging to the stone? Or much too expensive relative to the rents that the Fine Arts Building brings in?

I used to like the sooty look of the Old Colony, but it's much more beautiful now that it's been cleaned.

Shit son, that precast paneling is RAW. The glass is sick as well, more reflective than I imagined.

I love the new panels with the field pattern. It's hard to get a scale from the picture, but one of those is as high as a man... the panels mounted lower are even bigger.

Glass is excellent. Looks to be similar to Legacy.

Still dislike the lower panels (which will be hidden) but those textured ones I do like. I just hope Chicago winters won't leave them with white and grey streaks

They won't be hidden for quite some time. Roosevelt spent decades building up their endowment to the point where they could build a new tower to address their space needs.

The other lot has been pitched for student housing, but that's relying on the private market to find funding... not sure how long it will take for the for-profit student housing market to recover. That whole market was really a creature of the last boom, so I don't know if it will ever return; it's predicated on the continued growth of college enrollments, as well as the willingness of students to pay more than at a university dorm for only minor upgrades in amenities.

I'm starting to get your dislike of the panels... they're interesting/unusual on their own, but they will definitely look odd as the party wall of the Rebori building.

Perspective of project from Adler Planetarium

Since I'm not able to, wish someone could collect a few images of this project from a perspective similar to this image

which was captured from Adler Planetarium this morning via the MidWest hazecam site at: "http://www.mwhazecam.net/adler.html".

Man the corners on that glass look great. Nice and razor sharp looking. I can't wait until more goes up.

Chicago has such an awesomely varied and unique skyline. This building only reassures that claim and adds to the show.
