There needs to be more specific information before anyone can do a diagram.

Manhattan Rail Yard With a View

April 4, 2011

Quote:
For decades, city officials and real-estate developers have talked about developing the rail yards on the West Side.

Now the first signs of activity on the Hudson Yards project can be seen. Related Cos., the developer, is clearing the site for the first tower, a 1.4-million-square-foot office building.

Related won’t start construction until it has a tenant. But work has begun on a stop for the No. 7 subway train, and work on a park and rental tower is expected to begin within one year.

The next phase of the High Line Park, set to open later this year, will reach up to Hudson Yard’s southern boundary. Related officials are hoping to extend it a bit farther to allow park visitors to view the progress of the construction. The High Line eventually will wrap around half the site.

Hudson Yard’s first phase, expected to be completed in 2017, will have four million square feet of office space and 750,000 square feet of retail.

Thanks. These towers won't even be visible once the residentials rise on the western part of this site.

to me it looks like the tallest tower will be 1100 fet to the roof and 1300 feet to the spires tip.

They look good when portrayed, as here, with the details more visible. it's nice to see Brookfield's Ninth Ave towers too.

I must say, I hope they don't build that red tower, it looks extremely dull and 1990s.

They should spruce up the design a bit. Though I do see a lot of similarities to the Goldman Sachs Building at Lower Manhattan (200 West Street).

I thought the 7 extension was always going to end at 34th Street. Maybe I'm misreading something but the article sounds as if the station is being built somehow/someway because of this development. They're both independent of each other, right?

Don't worry about that. They are far removed from developing that tower by Related's estimates. The clip is meant to show a full buildout of Related's railyard development, and the rest of the "shadow" buildings shown are representative of the entire Hudson Yards redevelopment, some placeholders, some not. For an idea of how the railyard development will play out, think of the development of the WTC and Battery Park City. It will be phased development over time.

What I like most is how the new development ties in to the new Hudson Boulevard and the rest of the Hudson Yards district, something I really liked about Brookfield's proposal.

In comparison to the Manhattan West tower, the higher tower (with the spire) will be between 1240-1260 ft tall. But behind of this tower we have the space for a super tall tower.
