Weird, and here I was thinking only Canucks fans were fairweather...

I don't see any evidence of the fans in Calgary being less enthusiastic... as inexplicable as that is.

But never fear, for any of those who were losing faith, Blair Jones is a Flame now!

Every game sold out and the place packed with red jerseys... is this a troll or just another ignorant poster?

Luongo will not start in Boston. That sucks!! I was looking forward to see how he plays/redemption. I know Schneider is from Boston and Luongo got to play in his hometown of Montreal. Oh well.

This team needs a defense. Whitney is not the answer. To injury prone. The offense works. I'd like to point out goalie, but I think if we shore up the D, that might make it a bit better on the goalie.

We score enough now but simply not enough given how poor our D is and still up in the air goalie situation.

They probably saw the Flames game and know the Bruins actually would have kept trying to score past 10 on Lou...

Games are still sold out but its not a literal sea of red anymore. You'd be fooling yourself to say it is

I'm sure the crowd will still be heckling Luongo pretty heavily while he is on the bench.

Flames will be sellers at the trade deadline. This year they are even more pathetic than I thought they'd be - 9-0 to Boston? Ouch.

Time for a rebuild.

who is going to be sold on that team? Between the top 6 offensive players, and the top 4 d, who? They all have NMC or NTCs.... mediocraity is yours for a long time Calgary. You can't really rebuild when you have so many players locked in...

Anyone on Calgary not with a NMC or NTC is a UFA or RFA who will garner little return...

Note this site: http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=9 , note the little lock symbols...

Much as I love the guy, I bet Iggy could be convinced to take a trade to a contender. So could Kipprusoff. They'd both garner some interest, and get decent return.

I thought Stajan's contract was up after this year. What a horrible, horrible, horrible deal that was. They need to buy that loser out ASAP

NHL'S RE-ALIGNMENT PLAN ON HOLD AFTER NHLPA REJECTS CHANGES

Quote:
NEW YORK -- The NHL's planned division re-alignment has been blocked by the players' union.

The plan to change from six divisions to four conferences for next season had been approved pending consent from the NHL Players' Association.

But in a statement the league said the union would not allow the change to be made.

Instead the NHL will maintain its current alignment and playoff format for next season.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the league was unable to address the union's unspecified concerns with the change.

Daly added the league would look at its legal options.

Don't see a problem there. The C of red is more akin to the playoffs than anything, not regular season games as much. Its still pretty damn red in there either way, I have not noticed any difference. Not to mention a big mix of white (away) and orange (goofy heritage classic) jerseys. Flame home games appear to have more fans with jerseys in the crowd than any other home team. IMO

That means Winnipeg is stuck in the south east division for another season. Ouch

The plan wasn't bad, but the uneven conferences with the same amount of teams making the playoffs from each was very hard to overlook for the players who aren't blessed with playing in an Eastern market. Winnipeg could be moved a lot easier than changing the entire structure of the league to the detriment of over half the teams.
