We may have a new tallest for Miami looming in the distance. Site of the former Capital at Brickell might host it. "China City Construction" being the developer.

The Harbour, a planned twin-tower condo project in North Miami Beach, has released updated plans including taller towers and more units.

The project, which The Real Deal first reported in July of last year, was originally made up of two 25-story towers housing 330 luxury units.

A spokesperson from Key International had told TRD in July that the development was subject to change. Now, developers Key International and 13th Floor Investments have expanded the scope of the project. The towers would stretch 32 stories and house 425 residences — a jump from last year’s plans — though they’re keeping the name.

Eighty percent of the units are reserved, and the development will start to convert to contracts this week, according to the developers.

Prices remain in the same range, with units starting at $550,000 — up from $500,000 last year. Residences will range from one to three bedrooms and 1,032 square feet to 2,442 square feet. The project would be located on 4.5 acres at 16385 Biscayne Boulevard.

Amenities include a private club with a water sports activity coordinator, a gym, outdoor sports facilities, an infinity pool and a marina. It is slated to break ground in late 2015

I'm mad they went to Little Haiti but didn't go to an actual Haitian restaurant.

Indigo Hotel To Be Built In Brickell With 230 Rooms

Quote:
HES Group and Sunview Companies are in the final stages of permitting for a new Indigo Hotel in Brickell.

The hotel will include 230 rooms, according to an application filed this month (that is an increase from the 130-room, 24-story tower that the developers said they were building last year.) It is to be located at 145 SW 11th St.

Indigo is a boutique hotel brand of InterContinental Hotels Group.

The project was estimated to cost $48 million last year, and will include a full service restaurant. It is scheduled to open by the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Miami Beach Convention Center hotel plans revealed

Portman Holdings proposed its $405 million plan for the Miami Beach Convention Center headquarters hotel to the city on Thursday.
The plan for the 800-room resort, which is now being reviewed by a Miami Beach evaluation committee, includes several pools, a fitness center, spa and business center. Guest rooms will "float" over the convention center, with views of the city's skyline.
To activate 17th Street, the design also calls for increased tree canopy, and food and beverage outlets on the ground-level of the development. A full-service restaurant and rooftop lounge are also included in the plan.

I can't remember where they are. On what streets is that? Is that near Aventura Hospital or near Aventura Mall?

Thanks for sharing the video and I can see old Miami Herald. It's gone! I remember where I visited at Miami Herald years ago.

Yes, the Miami Herald lot is completely barren land now. Who knows what's going to happen with the site. My guess it will eventually be sold.

Genting will most likely build a resort of some type on the Herald Site. They've had a good quarterly profit, and are seeking to expand their resorts empire.

Miami Beach Approves Gigantic Convention Center Hotel

Quote:
"The City of Miami Beach is entrusting us to create an iconic Convention Headquarter Hotel and we are prepared to deliver," said Jack Portman, Vice Chairman of Portman Holdings and John Portman & Associates. "Portman Holdings will work closely with the City to finalize an agreement that will bring significant economic and community benefits, while John Portman & Associates designs a hotel that reflects the international destination status and the indigenous cultural values unique to Miami Beach."

The hotel development will not use any taxpayer dollars. Portman's plan is100% privately funded and takes into consideration both debt and equity sources. With a diversified real estate portfolio valued in excess of $1.5 billion, Portman has the experience and knowledge to be able to engage well-capitalized partners for the $405 million total project cost.

Designed by John Portman & Associates, in conjunction with local partner Revuelta Architecture International, the hotel will feature a sweeping curve design that will help connect and unify the surrounding area. The development will invigorate the street level, providing a grand welcoming gateway at the main intersection of 17th Street and Convention Center Drive. It will also bring increased tree canopy and ground floor food/beverage functions lining 17th Street. Landscape architecture partner West 8, which designed Miami Beach SoundScape Park, has also incorporated a variety of foliage throughout the development, including an elevated garden plaza expanding across the hotel's podium roof, providing lush terraces and shade surrounding the pools.
