PORTLAND, Oregon | A City, but not All Arrogant About It

These were taken mostly in downtown, plus a few on the eastside and 2 in the suburbs. I usually try to mix in some people shots, but this time I think I’ve got a few too many.

my previous three...
Portland (Feb 2010)
LA (Jan 2010)
Portland (Nov 2009)

I recognized someone again, but this time it was actually a former co-worker rather than a friend.

Great set

I like how the subject of the urban photography on this site has evolved from purely architectural, to more of urban ambiance inclusive of people and emotion as well as architecture. I believe the photographers on this site inspire and challenge each other to constantly improve and the results are becoming more and more evident over time. This photo thread was excellent... very technically sound but also emotional.

Not too many people shots at all.

Seems like there's been a lot of Portland threads lately on this site. I really like what I've been seeing:tu:

That last shot really shows the valley Portland sits in. Nicely done.

Nice thread. Wasn't expecting a thread from ya in a while. I like a lot of the people shots, I don't think there were too many. They are a big part of urban element to me and add life between architecture/skyline shots. I think it was a cool move.

This one is my favourite http://www.flickr.com/photos/35021226@N02/4378219340/ and I don't even remember it.

One of my favourites I've seen of you (along with the Seattle, LA, and Fall Portland ones).

Oh and two questions

1) You seem to use the telephoto and 10-20 a lot, do you still use your 18-55 kit?

2) What is the meaning to the name of this?

Great photos! I'm always happy to see Portland. And while I personally come to SSP to see streetscapes & generally prefer to see people as just elements of the overall streetscape as opposed to the main focus of photo threads, I was nonetheless impressed with your ability to capture moments so vividly clear!

Superb. Still enough breathtaking pics of buildings to keep everyone happy.

I love this reflection - because the building in the reflection is a different colour to the wall at the top of the photo, it looks like the building is hovering over the puddle.

1. I'm borrowing a 17-85mm IS lens that I used for several of these shots. Other than that, yeah it was either the 55-250mm IS or the 10-20mm. I haven't used the 18-55mm much since I've had access to the 17-85.

2. No real deep meaning... just a city, just a title.

I'll keep saying it: some of the very best work on this site. Each installment is a treat.
