What is that pool for?

I it just a regular pool or will it be some sort of water feature?

Just a regular pool for the Vdara residents and hotel guest.

Interesting photo- which brings up a good question of what the space between Vdara and Bellagio will be used for... We shall find out very soon!

[in regards to the OT post on Danny Gans...]
That is a sad thing to hear about... Danny was a great performer. Is there a Mirage performer's curse going around?

Vdara looks fantastic, totally sophisticated and unconventional at the same time.

It looks like the pedestrian bridge will run directly underneath the tram station.

From the picture, not sure how people get to the tram station.

Looks like the options are to take an elevator (is there one?) between the Vdara pedestrian bridge and the station or go up or down three flights of stairs, unless there are escalators I can't see.

I hope they researched the angles of the crystals in relation to the sun. I could see these things shooting a blinding death ray of sunlight down the strip on unsuspecting drivers.

It really is amazing. The strip will finally get some depth to it.

Too bad Station Casino will probably never be able to go ahead with Viva. It would have been on a huge plot of land and the project could have rivaled City Center in size, but station simply does not have that kind of money. Not even in the ballpark.

The land is still a nice assemblage. It could always get sold as one giant chunk.

Does anyone know if Harmon has a bridge over the railroad yet?

Not yet... Hopefully with some of the $80 something million the state just got for road construction/infrastructure they can finally get started.

CityCenter’s art collection was never in doubt, even when it was itself

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009...doubt-even-wh/

A nice overview of the entire art collection at CityCenter.
  • Typewriter Eraser, Scale X is in L.A. waiting to be transported to Nevada
  • The 36,000-pound Henry Moore sculpture will be in a landscaped area in July
  • Damascus Gate Variation I in the Vdara lobby will likely be installed last
  • Richard Long’s 80-foot-tall, 50-foot-wide mud drawings will be at Veer Towers
  • Maya Lin’s 133-foot interpretation of the Colorado River will be at Aria
  • And, a single yellow rose by German artist Isa Genzken will jut 24 feet from the ground near the porte cochere for the Harmon

Wow. I may just visit it for the art.

Its an interesting contrast between the colorful boats and the cold metal and concrete buildings.

Circus Circus is built on such an awkward lot. It has the timeshare and condo towers in front of it that are owned by someone else, meaning it can't be a normal stripfront property without those buildings obscuring it/messing up the theme.

If it does get sold someday, whoever buys it will need to pull some architectural magic to make the other buildings vanish.

Or they could just blow them up. That is always a possibility.

Blow up which buildings? Sky and Hilton?

Yes. Blow zem up!

Actually I should say "demolish" because saying that I want to see two large buildings "blown up" probably just put me on an FBI watch list.

Seriously though, it is a very awkward plot if you actually look at it. The section on the North Eastern border is not part of the property, but is owned by MGM and could be combined with it. If you think about what it could be like if it was one giant single block of land, it could potentially contain a second City Center...actually it could hold a lot more. If they purchased the land on the other side of the track, but before the I-15 and built over top of the railroad line, they could shove a freaking six flags back there.

MGM Mirage owns all of that vacant Strip-front land between Circus Circus and Sky. Plenty of room to make a bigger Strip resort presence ... that is, as long as they blow up Circus Circus and replace it with something that complements Sky.

MGM Mirage doesn't own that square thing to the right of the RV park inside the red line on that satellite shot, that's the new parking garage for the Hilton thing. It was under construction in that shot.

I never heard there were plans/rumors to close the Barney's at Palazzo. I bet they were planning to make money with the St. Regis Condos next door.
