I love looking at that footpring, knowing what's to come. More and more, I'm looking forward to seeing this eventually rise.

I'm glad they put forth such an effort to mothball the existing structure. Looks like it should be fairly easy to get things moving again in the next few years.

When construction begins in full, we go right to the fun part.

They seem to be doing something with the duct work. Maybe they're prepping to film Brazil II.

Sorry, I haven't really been following this one but I have a question:

What's the shortest Tower 2 could rise if no tenants are found?

I read that if they found no tenants they would built a 5 floors high shopping center instead of the 2 WTC but it was 2 a years or something like that ago and at this time they also don t wanted to built 3 WTC . I think 2 WTC will be built .

Tower 2 will not rise until a tenant is found, or unless Silverstein manages to get financing without one, which isn't likely. Like most other office towers in town, it will take a tenant to get going.

Looks they are at least making the site look decent before mothballing the project. Should probably go into the on-hold section at this point. Too bad, this was my favorite of the 4 towers.

No reason it can't still be your favorite. Plenty of towers on the boards that haven't risen yet. At least this one is in the ground and will get built.

I love how neat, pristine, almost clinical the foundation looks all wrapped up like that. Much better than most on-hold sites, with exposed rebar and haphazard wrapping.

Hate the fact that it's on hold, obviously.

Don't forget guys. Mr. Silverstein has one advantage with this tower than the other projects going up in New York: speed. Since the foundation of this tower is already done, and the foundation is usually the part of construction that almost takes the longest, once this thing finds a tenant, we won't have to wait long at all to get to the good part. This beauty will be able to rise (basically) immediately.

I think if Silverstein advertises and markets the point that he can get this building done before almost any of the competitors, we could find a tenant within a year or two. I'm very optimistic that we will have a fully complete WTC by 2020 or so.

I've been on this site for some time now, and I got to ask; cause, I can't think of any other building that has had this much notoriety and to be placed on hold and then built years later. Don't get me wrong - I'm quite sure it has happen. Unlike landsites set asside for highways, or fenced in lots that are left alone for decadeds until the financing is available - it just seems odd the such an iconic location would be placed in a hybenated state until further notice. I mean this is a nationally recognized site. IMO there's just something different about this building. If it's to be build as planned, then I find it difficult to say "Oh well, it's going to get built some time in the furture." I guess being a NY'r, I have a different outlook on this whole site, but I will try to be optimistic...

It's all about financing. Sure, the tower itself won't rise until there is funding to get it built, but the site itself will be active in some capacity besides just support. I do believe access to the transit center will be activated, though the Port Authority and Silverstein haven't said exactly what will be. Obviously because there is some structure on site, there won't be the outdoor market some had hoped for.

This is the 1 I want to see rise the most... I love this building, and hopefully they don't tinker with the original height,, which I had heard they were talking about.
