Wow it does not looks like Canada.

To me, it could be... well, South Africa per example!

Yep it's Canada I posted my own photo tour of the region a few pages back, but those pictures I found today are much higher definition. Canada actually has several deserts in the west. It's really amazing to see first hand... in fact, climbing up one of the hoodoos, I slipped and I felt "first hand" my hand land on a cactus. It f*cking sucked! Cool experience though lmao!

Having grown up in the east as well, I can say I was astonished when I moved from Toronto to Kelowna. I had never been west of Thunder Bay before getting on that plane... I was awe-struck upon exploring the Okanagan Valley, to say the least... and that is only a small part of the west.

Ah ! I believe you. It's a whole difference compared to the eastern part of our country.

If I had to move in the west, I think it would be Kelowna or Victoria. I'm more of a mid-sized city guy. though, even if Vancouver is at my opinion, the most beautiful canadian city.

Btw, when did you first moved there?

I moved to Kelowna 3 years ago. I lived in BC for almost 2 years, I've lived in Alberta for over a year. Both provinces are completely incredible, in different and awesome ways.

Also, I wouldn't write off Vancouver if I were you. You can get a mid-sized city feel in a couple of its suburbs, including White rock and New Westminster. I personally lived in New Westminster for 6 months, and it is gorgeous, dense, safe, quiet yet busy, very urban, unique, and my favorite amenity - directly connected with Vancouver via several Skytrain Stations.

Here's is a photo I took from my old apartment:

and this is a photo of Downtown New West I took from the front seat of the Skytrain.

It is a wonderful place!

Here's an awesome picture I totally forgot existed! Just found it on my facebook. It is me standing inside a tree in Vancouver's Stanley Park, approximately 2 years ago.

Quintessential southern Ontario in autumn. Farms, hills, leaves, cows, barns etc. It is a very simple and nostalgic beauty.

This scene could be played out 1000 times across southern Ontario. These houses are dotted everywhere.

Oh crap haha well it's still in Alberta, so it's still relevant Sorry for the mistake! The landscapes are similar though. The Badlands are just more clay-based I believe, while those formations seem to be more sandstone based.

Another interesting area in SE Alberta is Red Rock Coulee. I can't seem to find any of my pictures from there, but these from roadstories give you the idea ...

People often assume Alberta is just boring flat prairie then mountains, but there is a lot of really cool stuff to see and some amazing scenery. Saskatchewan too.

The province that has surprised me the most in this thread so far is Quebec, didn't realize how mountainous it is, kinda like the interior of BC.

The province that has surprised me the most is Alberta, as I was one of those people who thought it was just a podunk flat boring prairie. You might be surprised to find that Northern Ontario is also quite mountainous. Not as tall as Quebecs Laurentians mind you, but the shield of Northern Ontario is quite something, hundreds if not thousands of sheer cliff cuesta formations. I look forward to seeing the far east of Canada one day... Quebec and the Atlantic.

The badlands pictures reminded me of this place, the Cheltenham Badlands:

Source.

Source.

Where in Alberta is this place, you ask... Try Caledon, Ontario. Just north of Brampton.

Note: if you visit here don't wear white shoes or shorts.
