Photo Contest #83 - winter precipitation (Dec 11th)

Congratulations to Bigtime for the win in photo contest #82 shoreline.

Your quest for the next round is:

winter precipitation

As almost always:
  • Send a PM to HomeInMyShoes with your entry
  • Entries must be in by Decenber 11th (Thursday) midnight
  • One entry per forumer, must be your own photo
  • Try not to enter a photo already entered in a previous contest
  • Your entry should work inside of the IMG tags (pbase is giving me some problems). If I have to rehost it will get resized to 800 in my freebie photobucket account.
  • Maximum size is 1024 x 1024
  • Include a photo title in your message if you have and want a title
  • Avoid over-photoshopping stuff. It's okay to do those adjustements like colour and balance and cropping you'd do if you were physically printing it, but no giraffes on an iceberg kind of thing. I'm not going to say no to an entry because of it. Voters can decide for themselves what's acceptable themselves.
  • First come first serve. If we reach the maximum 25 entries and yours is the 26th received, too bad. Unless there's a lot, in which case we might do a play-in preliminary round of images I think are less likely to actually win. Hey, someone needs to make a judgement call. If you don't like it, think of the rating systems in college athletics and how bad this could be.

After the last contest, I get the feeling a little bit of rain isn't going to cut it for this one. Not that we get any rain in winter down here anyway. Going to have to dig for this one.

Grabbed one from my archive in order to avoid being #26 or later (it seems like the number of entrants has been picking up lately). Totally fine by me, though, because I hate freezing my fingers off trying to get the damn shutter to work (gloves are not doable) when it's cold out. So mine is more a collection of winter precip. than the stuff in action. I hope that's cool.

I don't think I can enter this one. Winter precipitation, me, and a camera have virtually never been in the same place at the same time.

Well I can speak for not just my location last winter, by saying all of eastern Canada and US would have GLADLY spared you some snow last winter. Some days I had to shovel 3 times a day. And I personally was ready to kill mother nature for sending so much to us. Let's hope she is a bit easier on us this winter.

All you people with no snow. I announce the contest and like clockwork it's snowing tonight. Shit. And don't say you like it. We get about 3 to 4 hundred (yes hundred) cm on average a season. Frankly, I could wait for it, but old man winter is saying one thing today:

"Summer's over bitches."

This was last year outside the apartment building.

We average about 15-16 cm of snow a year. It is a very big deal when we get snow. Impromptu holiday!

Canada: A northern country ?

For those of you who are still wondering if Canada is really in northern hemisphere, let me tell you that last winter we received a total of 540 cm.of snow during the season. This is more than 15 feet of "white stuff"...
We only hope that this winter will be quieter....

Winter here means a bit of rain and some clouds. I'll see what I have. :-)
