I guess you didn't watch the NFL playoffs this year?

Refereeing issues happen in all sports.

They can overturn a goal scored when a guy was a millimetre offside 30 or more seconds before a goal is scored, but they can't overturn a goal scored as the result of a blatant hand pass that lead directly to the goal being scored. There's something seriously wrong with this picture. And how on earth did all four officials on the ice completely miss the hand pass in the first place? If they were watching the puck it'd have been hard to miss (and if they weren't watching the puck, what the fuck were they doing out there?).

^I'd agree to both the previous posts. Should be overturnable and three people on the ice?

The replays I saw showed a referee with a least four players in between him and the play so I can see him missing it, but the linesmen?

It's tradition to have refs on the ice but, maybe it's time to shift to live cameras that aren't impeded by larger and faster players. We launch missiles at targets from a room a thousand miles away. Surely, the NHL can make it work too.

Every sport has really shitty calls every now and then. This one isn't nearly as bad as Maradona's Hand Of God, and football is still doing rather well worldwide.

That said in this day and age of video replay there's no way that this shouldn't have been reviewable. I get not wanting to slow the game down but for the love of God it would take all of ten seconds for the refs to put on the headset, watch the video, go "yep hand pass" and then announce that it was no goal.

Oh I did... the NFL is the league I watch the most in the last 2 years.

And as a Chiefs all I can say is... fucking coin toss.

But the NFL is this massive money making machine that the NHL isn't. By having refeereeing as bad as other leagues, the NHL is not helping itself in narrowing the gap that exists.

People kept watching after Brett Hull's goal and they'll keep watching after the 2019 playoffs.

^Maybe not after the next lockout though. 2022 is when that is done, although both sides can opt out in 2020.

I almost wish Boston would beat those suckers.
The NFL is famous for bad calls, and the NBA along with MLB get their fair share of bad calls. Bad calls unfortunately are part of all sports. That said, it might be time for the NHL to review all goals. They already have the people and cameras watching every game reviewing goals anyway. Would it slow the game down? Yeah maybe a little, but since 98% of the goals are obvious goals, they could 'approve' those ones quickly.

You might get your wish with the Bruins, as they look like the team to beat right now.

Not only lost in the next round, but have been swept as well.

Islanders swept Penguins
Hurricanes swept Islanders
Bruins swept Hurricanes

So by natural progression does that mean the Sharks/Blues will sweep the Bruins in the finals?

In related news, the Toronto Marlies are on an impressive run, they won their first conference final game vs. Charlotte and are now 8-0 through the playoffs so far.

Didn't Blue Jackets sweep Lightning and did not get swept? (But lost so franktko point is still correct)

Yes, I was thinking more along the lines of this batch of sweeps - which I've never seen anything like it before.

Oh right. Isles sweep Pens, then get swept by Canes who get swept by Bruins who will get swept by Sharks

Except Columbus, who swept TB, but went out in 6.

I would love to see either SJ or St Louis take it. Here's hoping.

Bruins will take the cup in 6 games. RASK is just to good. Sj or St dont have the size or skill to take the Bruins out. And im going for the Bruins just because they have taken the Leafs out twice now. And im sure Leafs fans are still preparing for the parade........
