Download the Origin Client from Maxis' website. That's the client you have to have installed anyway, as they run all their games through there (similar to Steam, or Blizzard's Battle.net I guess).

You can purchase / download through the store.

I'm probably going to start my own region first,to get a feeling for city building and regional cooperation. I want to make all my horrible mistakes privately instead of embarrassing myself in front of you guys. So I expect my casino-city will be slow going at first, as it will only receive a fraction of my attention for the first little bit.
I'll probably work on my own region first as well.

However, I'm going to get my copy in an hour or so and plan to install/play it immediately so provided it works on this computer I'll make it ASAP. I'll make it public so we can easily find it and join in.

I have plans tonight so hopefully between ~10am (when I get home) and ~5pm I can get it installed, updated, working, and start the regions! So check back here around 8pm Newfoundland time!

O.K. - I've got it. My Origin name is SignalHillHiker if anyone needs to know.

By the way - if you don't have Bell Alliant's fibreop, consider it. Downloading/installing Origin AND Simcity took less than 5 minutes.

I'm gonna head home at lunch between meetings and check on progress.

According to the official forums, it seems there are major server issues at the moment. 30+ minute wait times just to connect to a server. A big bummer. Keep it in mind when you want to play. Maybe boot up the game while making supper, instead of waiting until afterwards.

Stay away from my private regions! Sorry, I'm a 12 year old boy trapped in an 89 year olds body.

Too bad we couldn't bet on whose city reaches 200,000 peeps first.

I'm creating a server now that we may use if you all wish. One quick note: Cinder and Ingot Landing are mislabeled on the first page. So mine is actually called Ingot Landing.

I'd need to add you all as friends to invite you, ha! But, right now, it says I have no friends so I can't.

I'd love to be your friend but Origin is messing with me and won't let me install the game so I'm out.

We can rename our cities. Signal Hill is already a bustling little town with one street, a few houses, lots of businesses/industry, a water tower, and a windfarm. lol Everyone's happy for now... and I can soon build a town hall.

Just checking... is everyone else planning to just cram the necessities by their highway to raise money to start?

I am apparently a lot of people are having problems with the server not letting them download. I'm in the waiting line for Origin help to see if they can do anything.

Excellent. You have to join. We're all so excited to have you with us, you can't back out.

And first-day hiccups are understandable.

My computer is already falling apart so it's hard to beat it up anymore

I have plans after supper so it might be like 9pm Calgary time before I can try to get on again.

UPDATE: 10-15 minute wait left to see if they can help ... In the last hour I've been watching CTV News (slow news day too). Anybody else ever notice the abundance of Newfoundland tourism ads?

I played with my own Private Region at lunch time. It was really fun, I can't wait to play for 5-6 hours tonight.

Have we figured out how to have multiple people in a region yet? If so, I'm willing to start my SSP town tonight. I realized quickly that in the early stages its pretty hard to make your town a COMPLETE disaster. I'd be willing to start my city.

We have to add each other as friends on Origin, it seems? SignalHillHiker is my username.

I sent you a request in case Origin ever decides to let me play the game ...

DOWN TO 5-10 MINUTE WAIT!

Just an update. I can now get to my profile in Origin but it is saying the game is no longer available. I understand this is quite common today so hopefully I get through soon and provide some tips for others trying to get the game installed.
