53w53 pics, October 2016

This building's a stunner. A bit overwhelmed by the volume of skyscraper construction on our last visit to NYC in October. Snapped a few photos of 53w53 along the way.

Some sample floor plans. Taken from 3 pdf's on the Verre Teaser Site. These units are quite spacious.

I can't imagine how cool it must be to live that high in a building of this caliber. I also can't image what it feels like to be that rich...

I went to the MoMA this past weekend and this baby is really beginning to get up there. It's by far my favorite under construction in the city.

Overwhelming, it is. It'll be worth it in the long run.

Feels like this.

If I had a penthouse here, you can bet that I'd have a bed made of money. Tempurpedic is overrated. Nothing gets you a solid 8 hours of good, capitalist dreaming, quality sleep than a bed made straight from U.S. Treasury.

Skyscraper -- running out of time to photograph "my" building being created. It's grown since I was out for two months. NYC's skyline is changing big time.

I've noticed that after the completion of 432 PA 'regular' people started to slowly realize that the skyline is changing fast. HY is roaring and the towers U/C are already making their presence known in the skyline. Once Verre, CPT, 111W, 1Vandy and other behemoths start peeking through the plateau, even the last New Yorker will begin to realize that 'something's going on'.

No need to hide your cash under the mattress if the mattress is made of cash.

I like how this building almost has a natural shape of sorts. Between the general form of the building and the way of the beams, it gives off a very natural vibe. It's kind of like a reverse John Hancock Center, which has the very industrialist appearance with the straight X shaped beams and almost rectangular form.

When I imagine a skyscraper this is essentially what I envision. It looks like it is formed to actually scrape the sky, and not just with an additional spire. This whole buildings purpose is to scratch the ceiling of the earth (for the wealthy residents that is). On the note of it looking natural, it also looks like a massive stalagmite protruding from the earth with an eroded yet growing look to it.

I can find no flaws in it. If there is one, its that its not taller. In a city of tall towers, it could get lost a bit. But I'm guessing that the iconic location and excellent design will go a long way towards this being among the must see towers in New York, not just among the skyscraper junkies.
