Today I actually had to wear one of my arctic parkas on site. -22 and winds gusting to over 32kph/ along with the new snow made for conditions I last experienced in Rankin Inlet NU.

Walking the 80ft from the contractors trailer to the IKEA store, we lost site of the building for a short while. then standing on the roof for about a half hour was not pleasant.

The wind was bringing in a warm front, so over the next 4 days we will go up to +5.

Just checking snow depths around central Canada, and was a bit shocked.

Montreal at around 10 cm, Toronto has a trace. Kingston has about 2 cm.

And Ottawa has 50-60 cm!

It is so cold that I have my upstairs bathroom sink faucet running on full blast, and my kitchen sink faucet running at half blast, and it's STILL freezing over. About once an hour I hear the gurgle and cracks and the water stops, so I have to use this pipe heater thing Dad bought me to heat where the pipes meet the ground (which is, luckily, always where it freezes).

I'll have to leave my kitchen faucet running as high as it'll go when I go to sleep.

Shanghai's weather has been dry and cold for the past few days. Today will reach a high of 9c and a low of 2c.

What an odd day. -3 and about 5 cm of snow fell today. Around 2 PM, it began to snow again, however it began to warm up to around 0 and turned to rain. It's now 7 and the wind is howling. Sideways rain. Feels like winter in Ireland.

Tuesday was a brilliant blue sky day in Vancouver. I went to West Vancouver to get some pics of a construction site near Ambleside Beach. It was nice to feel the warmth of the sun.

The high at Vancouver Harbour was 4 C, the low was -2 C.

Extra sweater and ski pants day. It's actually a balaclava and ski goggles day, but I toughed it out.

Currently +6C and raining in Moncton. The January thaw has commenced. It is expected to last three days. There is a chance we may see double digits tomorrow.

Rain starting shortly before midnight yesterday and ended very early this morning. Turnout out a nice January day at 4C and clear blue skies. Snow didn't melt as quickly as it would have under the rain (at the same temperature) but at least it did melt the layer of ice from the ice storm a week ago.

It's actually 5C now, 1C warmer than during the day.
