The office building has been submitted for building permit review:

They closed the parking lot today, removed the parking signage and brought in a couple porta potties. Looks like something is going to happen soon!

Looks like it's imminent: demolition permit for the Temple building was issued yesterday.

The hotel tower still hasn't been submitted for permit, but the site has changed ownership to "URBAN PORTLAND DOWNTOWN HOTEL". That company is registered at the same address in New Orleans as HRI Lodging.

Someone's gonna be taking a poop. Good to see this happening, it will be sad to lose the Temple building, but I came to terms with the city losing that building long ago.

I am still really sad, this is one of my favorites. But, yes, I knew it was inevitable. No one was going to spend the money to bring it back.

It wouldn't be as sad if we could trust architects to build something better. They can't. They just don't speak the same language. The Craftsman is missing from the equation. If we are lucky all we get are clean lines and mass produced materials with no interesting details. Looks fine in a book, up close sterile and boring.
