FORT WORTH | Dickies Arena

This arena has been in the planning for quite some time. It's still a few years away from full construction starting. The Will Rogers complex already features multiple arenas, primarily for rodeo, horse shows, etc. This new arena will be multipurpose and replace the main arena in the city, which is currently located downtown attached to the convention center. When the new arena is complete, the convention center arena will be torn down and new convention floor space built.

Stats on the new arena

-$450 Million price tag, split half by the city and half by Ed Bass.
-9.3k seats for rodeo, 12.2k for Hockey, 13.3k for basketball, 14k for large concerts
-New garage (Already U/C) will be six levels and park 2,200 cars.
-Arena is being built on a raised plaza, below which will be staging areas.
-Arena opening date is targetted at late 2019 to 2020.
-David Schwarz is the architect, along with HKS.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held today. Fort Worth based Dickies was announced as the arena sponsor and has the naming rights. It was also announced the arena will host some 1st and 2nd round games of the 2022 March Madness.

Star-Telegram article with more information.

Art Deco is alive and well with this one. I haven't seen this before. Awesome design.

Was also going to appreciate the conservative, classic design. Definitely something we don't see often, but when it is done, it's a fresh of breath air.
