Venice, Italy 2018

Stop number 3 of my Italy trip!

Stop 1: Rome
Stop 2: Florence

Grand canal views right as you step out of the train station

Ponte degli Scalzi

The ferry system is like their metro. You can see the vaporetto (water bus) station just to the left of the church.

Campanile di San Marco and Palazzo Ducale

Rio de la Pleta

Rio de Palazzo o de Canonica

From the other end of Rio de Palazzo o de Canonica

Rio del Mondo Novo

Piazza San Marco

Ponte di Rialto

T Fondaco Dei Tedeschi, high end shopping mall with rooftop views of the Grand Canal

Hustle and bustle of the Grand Canal

Rio de San Barnaba

Rio de San Trovaso

Expensive ride, but well worth it!

Palazzo Balbi

Instead of sticking their heads out of car windows, the dogs here enjoy the thrill of boat rides!

Dinner spot with a front row view of Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute

Took a short day trip to nearby Burano!

Extra long and skinny ferry

Quaint, colorful, little fishermen's village

Done with Venice/Burano, and now on the way to Cinque Terre with a transfer at the gorgeous Milano Centrale station!

Beautiful! Venice is one of the few famous places in Europe I haven't been to yet.

You should definitely check it out! One of the most unique cities in the world. Despite the crowds, there are tons of small side streets and alleyways that are quiet and serene.

They were there, mostly in the areas around Piazza San Marco and Palazzo Ducale, as well as Ponte di Rialto. But there were certainly plenty of areas where you could easily walk a little further and find some reprieve from the crowds.

Thanks for the bonus look at Burano, I did not see it when I visited Venezia many years ago.
