This is a stupid poll, obviously Toronto has the best skyline because it has 5 to 10 times the population as most cities in the poll. If Yellowknife had 100x more people than Toronto it would probably have a “better” skyline.
I voted for Edmonton.

Sincere question: in what aspects (if any) could Edmonton's skyline be considered superior to Calgary's?

Point is its subjective and opinion. Trying to quantify it is futile IMO.

For the record, In MY opinion I think Calgary's is better then Edmonton's but have no issues if someone prefers Flin Flon's over Calgary or Edmonton's. I just think its amusing the way the disagreement responses have been.

Carry On!

I prefer Edmonton's, but it depends where you see it, from the south across the river is the best view and the new talls have made it that much better

That's why I put "best" in quotes in my reply. There is no argument whatsoever that Toronto has the tallest buildings by far and the most tall buildings by far, but some people might prefer the architecture in City A or the environs in City B. The aesthetics are subjective, the sizes of the respective skylines are not.

Hence my amusement at the definitive terms used in some of the responses. "Best" is subjective!

Taller, not as fat, more harmonious facial features, whiter and straighter teeth, bigger breasts, etc. Not exactly a trick question :p

That's your opinion! Many just happen to agree, many others don't.

They are sort of a different aesthetic. Edmonton's is grounded in the 60s and classic modernism and tends toward wider, bulkier buildings with clean right angles. Calgary seems more grounded in the 80/90s and postmodernism, more weird shapes, brighter colours, buildings in Calgary are narrower on average than in Edmonton in my experience. I'd give the edge to Calgary's skyline as I find the individual buildings a bit more interesting but at this point I'd consider it a matter of taste.

This one? You posted it on June 12th, 2018. And you said "Pix by me today."

Nice photo. I'm not familiar enough with Kitchener to know whether it's actually 10 years old or not.

When this thread was created, I googled to see if there was any Canadian city called Jacksonanything in order to vote for it; there wasn't.

On the other hand, the real Jacksonville's skyline is so great that one can almost see it from Canada, so maybe it counts

I voted for Toronto, its a no brainer. This position is only going to solidify itself with the insane amount of new towers going up there. I also love the Montreal skyline due to the contrast of old vs new, and Calgary is really impressing me as well with the addition of the three amigos (The Bow, Brookfield Place, Telus Sky).

Vancouver is gorgeous for a backdrop, scenery wise it wins. But the buildings are too short and stubby for my liking. Edmonton is moving up the ranks, Quebec City is classic. We really have some awesome skylines in this country for only 37 million people. We should all be proud.

Yeah I forgot about that one... maybe because it seems almost identical to one I posted 10 years ago.
