Kensington and Inglewood have made the nominations for the Canadian Institute of Planners Great Places in Canada competition.
I was honoured to have been part of an article in the Calgary Herald about this last week which is here. Anyone can vote - so please vote at http://www.greatplacesincanada.ca/en/

The greatest in the whole country? seems like a bit of a stretch, but good for Inglewood!

I can think of a few neighbourhoods in Calgary that I'd nominate ahead of Inglewood, but the place does have lots of character and a funky vibe. If they can add more new development and density into the mix, this area will be right up there with our other top inner city neighbourhoods.

Main thing it needs is the gaps filled on 9th ave.

Inglewood's great for what it is, but I have a hard time thinking a place is a complete neighbourhood if you can't buy staple groceries etc. in it, which Inglewood sorely needs. Bite is cool, if you can afford it, but it's not a once-a-week-toilet-paper-dog-food-and-soda sort of store.

There was a rumour about Whole Foods going in where the Blackfoot diner is. I am not sure if that is dead.
