Polanco Hotel | Mexico City, Mexico

In this outstanding location for a residential project, we had the opportunity to develop a mixed-use complex that includes a shopping mall, offices, apartments, a theater, and two new museums in the north-western part of the city. This new complex is part of the renovation of an industrial zone. In order to consolidate its center, we created a new master plan with another new building that includes apartments and a hotel in order to create a new destination in the city. This new building’s sections are organized along a vertebral spine that provides structural rigidity where all vertical services are located. The building tries to maximize the extraordinary location and makes the most of the privileged views of the cultural center in the southern orientation. It also grants a new dynamism to the center’s educational and artistic elements. Participating in a subtle dialogue, the organic plan strengthens the identity of both the Jumex Museum and the theater in the middle of the plaza. The asymmetrical plan is consolidated with a continuous window façade that can open completely, allowing efficient cross-ventilation, minimizing inner energy consumption, and reducing the use of artificial energy in the architecture.
