Yeah, I can totally see why Canadians think corruption only exists in the belle province (that is sarcasm, btw).

Anyway, on a lighter note - There has been a murder in Saint-Lambert de Lauzon which is on the southern edge of the city of Levis (part of Greater Québec City). However, it appears that this is not part of the city and is being investigated by the SQ (regional police force). Lucky for Levis, because that would have been two murders in one week for the city (which hadn't had a murder for 15 years).

I think Saskatchewan suffers from same flying-under-radar unless something exceptionally criminal resets barometer on Canadians perception of the province, rightly.. but more likely wrongly.

5 murders in Regina is, per capita, the same as 25 murders in Calgary, because Calgary is roughly five times its size.

5 murders in Thunder Bay is equivalent to 15 murders in Regina and 75 in Calgary. And 300 in Toronto.

People don't get randomly killed here, though. All of our homicides are either abusive spouses, homeless people, or gang members.

^ AND Saskatoon's 3 as compared to Edmonton's 30+murders is completely disproportionate considering Edmonton city population is only 3 times larger than Saskatoon, not ten times larger..
most of murders in Saskatchewan aren't random either, large percentage of time victims know the perpetrator.

Very often. Random murders definitely happen, but they are very much in the minority.

A high number but to be fair two of those are police shootings where the suspect had a weapon so not quite "murders".

Like I said, it's all anecdotal. Edmonton does show up less in the media, both national and international, and I've never seen it on one of those global ranking lists. Lots of Edmonton forumers on here are agreeing with that as well. Anyway, not trying to start anything, just posting what I notice based on an article I found odd.

I've come across a few reports looking at things like comparing transit systems across Canada that include only 5 cities - excluding Edmonton. Always seems exceptionally strange to me.

Looks like Edmonton will hit 40, as another man was killed in the same rooming house in central Edmonton in 2 weeks, and another man found stabbed to death in the city's north east.

Ottawa is now at 12.

Shooting in broad daylight in the city's inner and older suburban ring, to the southwest of the core.

Not the nicest part of town but there was a bunch of kids in a playground just a hop away when it happened.
