Game on and Winnipeg already gave up the first goal again!!
I'm not sure this is a good idea it doesn't seem to work for them.

Jets defense couldn't handle the constant forechecking pressure and general speed of the VGK forwards. Stastny was mostly invisible, Laine couldn't hit the net, Schiefele was shutdown by McNabb/Schmidt. Myers didn't look good at all, Byfuglien looked tired.

Need to upgrade the defense for another run next year, IMO.

Thumbs down

Wow what a time for the Jets to lose 4 games in a row for the first time all season long?!

Incredible year for the Knights, not only do they make the playoffs, but they bulldoze everyone in their path. 12 wins and 3 losses.

Very disappointed by the Jets showing in this series. After beating the Preds, who would have thought they could lose to Vegas? Maybe that tough, emotional series just took too much out of a young team, short on playoff experience. Jets seemed sluggish, unable to win fights for the puck, and their snipers disappeared (except for Scheifele).

Overall though, this year offered fun and excitement for Winnipeg fans. It's really great to have a top contending team to cheer for. I hope they can keep it up for 2018-19 and finish up the regular season like they did this year......

2 Winnipeg 82 114

7 Toronto 82 105

20 Calgary 82 84

23 Edmonton 82 78

26 Vancouver 82 73

28 Montreal 82 71

30 Ottawa 82 67

The Knights now have more Stanley Cup finals appearances in the last 50 years than the Leafs. That's depressing.

Always enjoy the memes that come after someone gets knocked out though.

Remember when they kept touting the road to the Stanley Cup was the toughest road in all of sports.

Nope, it isn't.

It's pretty common knowledge in the hockey world that the Memorial Cup is more difficult to win than the Stanley Cup. Playoffs are same length and then there's another tournament after your playoffs.

Not to mention that you only have a three or four year window to win it - the very best players only get two years to win it.

Here's an article from the Windsor Star on this topic.

Game seven for Capitals/Lightning tonight. So stoked. A game seven for Ovechkin to maybe get to the Stanley Cup Finals.

If the Caps win, they will be my team in the finals (i love Ovi & Washington is my adopted city in the States).

If Tampa wins, I'll be going for the Vegas Golden Knights.

^seconded.

Although I'd probably say Vegas wins the cup. Hard to bet against the team that has only lost three playoff games and is more rested. Holtby will have to have the series of his life.

TVA Sports got the French broadcasting rights to the NHL in a sidebar to the huge Rogers deal.

For two of the four years they've had the rights the Habs have sucked and didn't make the playoffs. I am sure this has put a huge downer on the whole deal in the offices of TVA as the impact on ratings is devastating when the Habs aren't playing or at least don't make it in for at least a round or two.

So anyway this year with the Habs absent TVA Sports has made an obvious effort to try and make the playoffs relevant to more people in Quebec.

The approach has been to reach out to people here who are fans of the teams still in the running. People send in selfies of their families and friends dressed in Jets, Bruins, Predators, Capitals, etc. even if they live in St-Polycarpe or Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs. So far they've found no shortage of people, although it's obviously very much a niche thing.

They've also got a roving reporter who visits selected fans in their homes and pops in and out of the game coverage with live reactions.

Last night he was with a bunch of people from France who now live in Montreal, who for some reason were big Tampa fans. They were all wearing the gear and everything.

I can't find the video of the French fans but here is the reporter with another bunch of Québécois Lightning fans:

It's like they just can't lose.

So weird. Fleury doesn't even play well and they score six on Washington (well 5 and an empty netter.)

That was such a fun game to watch.

Found out my sister's friend put $400USD on Vegas at the 500-1. They called last week wanting to settle at 80k.
