Either way time will tell.
I like that the idea of a demo enters the conversaion in principle, because we need to be logical with old buildings and fledgling opportunity...

But I can't imagine anyone entertaining a demo for THIS building if people are losing their shit over smaller, derelict shoeboxes elsewhere in the city.

Are you saying that people (public) would be upset if Sears or The Bay at Polo (private) got torn down? Why? They're not historic buildings...

This is unconfirmed, but I consider my source highly reliable.
Anything new on this rumor?

they have a massive parking lot that is barely ever full, you would think both a condo and the restaurant can live in harmony

With Sals being sold, does anyone else think a new downtown location should open? I think the Exchange would be a great choice.

New owners? Didn't know that. Wonder if they will change their format. I may be the only person in Winnipeg that liked having them on the L'esplanade..

Second.

Haven't been to the replacement restaurants on the Bridge, but I was several times in the 2000s when it was a Sals.

A location at TNS would be a good location to replace the Medical Arts one that is open part of the day.

I find it somewhat amazing that Salisbury House hasn't gone under yet. McDonald's is more satisfying at maybe 2/3 the cost. Plus you don't have to deal with the drab, depressing locations.

Sometimes I can't believe that people eat there voluntarily.

^Sacrilege! Salisbury House is a civic treasure and should be mandatory eating at least twice weekly for every Winnipegger! The nip should be named the official provincial sandwich and the blueberry pancakes declared a municipal heritage food. Anyone who doesn't like Salisbury House must be deranged and ought to be covered in gravy and run out town on a rail.

Absolutely. I think the last time I went to one out of my own volition was when dumb and impressionable 18 year-old me went to the location in the Greyhound depot on Balmoral. Utter garbage.

^haha! Stick around and maybe you'll acquire the taste!

Seriously, I was reading the Free Press article about the sale and they said that Salisbury might be one of the few chains where all products -- including the beef -- are entirely locally sourced from within Manitoba. Didn't know that, but it makes sense.
