A 9,000 square ft "chef-driven” food hall is coming to Aris Market Square, making it the third food hall to be announced for Downtown within the past few months.

And in the case of Bravery Chef Hall, planned for a 9,000-sq.-ft. space in the ground floor of the Aris Market Square tower Hines is completing at the corner of Preston and Travis Downtown, it’s not just a food hall but “the world’s first chef hall.” Or, as the founders explain, “a curated food hall where all vendors are operated and owned by chefs, employing only cooks, and where a large percentage of the seats are chef counter seating.” So maybe think of it as a huddle of 5 independently operated chef’s tables, each surrounding an open kitchen, in one streetfront retail space. (Plus additional adjacent seating — and outside, a patio garden and sidewalk café dining space totaling 3,000 sq. ft.)

Exxon’s XTO Energy to move 1,600 employees to Houston

Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) will move 1,600 of its XTO Energy subsidiary’s employees from Fort Worth to the Houston area, according to multiple news reports.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News report that 1,200 employees will move to Exxon’s Springwoods Village campus in mid-2018, and another 400 will move in 2020. About 350 employees will remain in Fort Worth, which will include the company’s central division and its midstream operations supporting Barnett Shale operations.

Luxury condo to replace cancelled project in Montrose

A luxury condominium is set to replace a cancelled residential project in Montrose.

Midtown/Uptown Development Partners plans to build Mandell Montrose at 2312 Commonwealth St., near its intersection with Fairview Street a few blocks north of Westheimer Road.

Mandell Montrose, designed by Houston-based architect Mirador Group, will feature condo units averaging 2,400 square feet of living space in addition to outdoor balconies and terraces. Each floor of the building will have four units, and buyers can choose from four floor plans with views of downtown Houston, Midtown or the Museum District.

Sudhoff Cos., a Houston-based real estate firm marketing the project, is expected to open a sales center on site in July. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2018 with the first residents expected to move in fall 2019.

Bill Krewson, a partner with Midtown/Uptown Development Partners, said Mandell Montrose’s design was inspired by New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood, known for its modernist architecture. The Houston-based development firm has experience with master-planned communities, commercial shopping centers, gated communities and mixed-use developments around the world.

The former proposal for the site, Flats on Fairview. Sales goal was met but construction costs were too high for the previous developer.

Filings with the FAA show two towers which may become the tallest in Midtown are planned near the new McGowen Park. If plans move forward as indicated, the buildings will rise simultaneously with construction beginning in early 2018.

I don't see any issue of this not being approved.... now the financing and all that is a separate issue to if this gets built or gets chopped in half.
