If the spire could support it, they could make a obs pod similar to the 102nd floor in the ESB. And if a building one day succeeds the height of 1 WTC and includes telecommunications, all the broadcasting equipment on top of the tower could be removed and the rings at the top could be used in a similar way to what the south tower's roof was used for. Yes, nothing of this may come to past, but if the former WTC took all broadcasting purposes from the ESB, then why not a new building in the future? (Forgive me if I'm wrong.)

Off topic, but Two World Trade Center has a little amount of area left on the roof. I am wondering why can't they put one there.

This thing is definitely going to be a sexy tall beast once it's built!

Does anyone know like when we'll be able to go up literally IN THE OBSERVATION DECK?

Thank you bunches in advance!

Great idea, except for that area will be filled with antennas and such.

^ The altitude of that pic is so high, that you could see some of the Upstate mountainous regions.

You're right, it is surprising just how close it looks.

Whoa, you could see people working in the other building! Freaky. That has always weirded me out about NYC. LOL (not a bad kind of weirded out... It's the fact that doesn't happen back at home so I'm not used to that, lol)

Also, wow. The original towers were really pretty up on top. It still makes me sad/nostalgic seeing pictures of the original towers pre-9/11.

Nonetheless, this is making me super excited for when 1 WTC does open and we can go up to the observation deck. I've already done the observatories at Top of the Rock and the ESB... I would love to cross the WTC observatory off my bucket list!

Must be one hell of a telephoto lens. It's amazing what an optical illusion it can create when you consider, for example, the fact that the Tracey Towers, which appear right above the left corner of the GM building, are 10 miles away in the north Bronx!

Right, I forgot about WOTW. My first visit to NYC was in March '06 and I stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown. One day I looked out my window and saw people in the building across the street pedaling on exercise bikes. Weirded me out good, it did.

Man, it's so weird when there is inclement weather in NYC and all the buildings seem to get eaten up by the clouds/fog. Especially the WTC buildings. I can juuuuuust barely see 1 WTC in that update picture!!

I think people complained too much about how the old Twin Tower facade blocked views. I think it made people who had a fear of heights more comfortable, and it looked more dignitary. The new 1WTC will have a 360 view no blockage, but so does every building of similar height these days. That's what was special about the Twins.
