Sun & Salsa Festival, Fiestaval

With the Stampede just wrapped up, Calgary's festival season is in full gear. This past weekend Kensington's Sun & Salsa festival drew 100,000 festival goers and has evolved into one of the main summer festivals. Fiestaval, a Latino warmup to the bigger Expo Latina was also underway this past weekend.

I happened to pass by Olympic plaza during Fiestaval. ( I thought it was Expo Latina) Isn't Expo Latina also at Olympic Plaza, or did they just rename Expo Latina? Anyhow, it was pretty cool.

^Did they move to Prince's Island to get more space? The festival's grown dramatically in the past few years.

Nice pictures. I forgot the Sun & Salsa was this past weekend. The weather is almost always good for that event, no wonder it's doing so well.

Sunday was a great day weather wise, I wish I had gone. I was planning on it, but the in-laws came up from Lethbridge, and put the kibosh on it

Nice to see them get crowds around 100k, it's obviously become very successful. I remember when the festival was just a few tents, and about a dozen competitors. Does anyone remember when this thing started?

I went last year and they had a $10 cover charge to get in and really shitty beer. Was completely unimpressed.

Did you notice the one girl who changed outfits?

Found her in that massive flicker album ksnaden graciously linked to. Turns out she was a model at the fashion show.
