ALS RB WHITAKER REQUIRES SURGERY; TO MISS REMAINDER OF SEASON

Quote:
Montreal Alouettes running back Brandon Whitaker suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders and will require surgery.

The 27-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2012 season.

After leading the CFL in rushing yards last season, Whitaker amassed 631 rushing yards on 123 carries with four rushing touchdowns, as well as 49 receptions for 516 yards and five touchdowns through Week 12.

Whitaker picked up 102 receiving yards before leaving in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. The Edmond, Oklahoma native also rushed for 45 yards, including one touchdown and returned two missed field goals for 80 yards.

Also getting bad news on Tuesday was receiver Brian Bratton, who hyperextended his right knee on Sunday and is expected to miss several weeks.

Sucks for Whitaker!!!

Now with Whitaker (who is also our 4th best receiver) and Bratton done and London still not ready, our receiving depth chart is SJ Green, Jamel Richardson... and Patrick Lavoie.

We'll be OK as long as we have those 2.

They were dropping quite a few passes themselves last game (not enough for our offence to get their sh*t together though, granted it was a rookie quarterback).

Both of them have yet to play to their potential this season (even though Green leads the CFL in receiving yds) but if we're only going to have 2 non-injured starting receiver I chose those 2.

There is no one else as clutch as these guys.
2010 Grey Cup

63% of the total receiving yds
59% of the total receptions

Jesus, I love Brandon London... safe to say we now have a big three (Richardson/Green/London).

Even though they are the ONLY 3 receivers healthy right now, the Argos had no answer for them.

No Whitaker? No problem! Calvillo already had 228 yds after the first half. He could have had 400+ yds if the game was closer in the fourth quarter.

We're now 8-4 after our horrible start (2-3). So we're 6-1 since then.

Interestingly enough... the Lions had a bad start (2-2) as well and are 7-1 since then. Their only loss was vs us and our only loss was vs them.

Hopefully we meet at the Grey Cup.

With Kackert out and Boyd gone (still the dumbest decision in the league of the year), we have no running game, our strength. Not being able to generate offense is pretty much expected now.

Oh well, they were decent for a couple months.

After what I just watched, I just wanted to congratulate the CFL referees for their "good" job.

Wow, Burris lit up Montreal's defense like the forth of July.
Despite Hamilton's record, the East is pretty wide open this year anyone can take it (save for the Bombers lol).

Look at the difference just having Kackert back makes.. Looks much better.

Also I will concede to Jarious Jackson, I thought when Ray went down that was it and we would plummet. He did a good job and proved my opinion going into the game very wrong. Bring on Saskatchewan!

C'mon Big Smoke, show some spirit! The Jays are done, Leafs aren't playing, Raptors aren't playing, TFC is garbage, and the Bills suck balls once again! Do you think the GTA can muster over 30,000 to watch two teams who are hot right now?

Saskatchewan draws well on the road and there is a diaspora in the GTA. I'd expect the biggest crowd of the year in TO, but 30k might be a stretch. Might be hard to tell who is the home team.

Hopefully, I know at least 4 who will be there! (Including myself)

July 4th? I had to think about that one for a second. It's nice to see the East with 3 decent teams; and surprisingly 1 of them isn't Winnipeg.

Oh well... now everyone of our regular group of receivers has experienced the joy of being injured.

Quote:
The Alouettes (8-5) are expected to be without receiver S.J. Green when the Bombers (3-10) pay them a visit on Monday. Green, who leads the league in receiving yards, suffered a knee injury in last week’s loss to Hamilton …

Kind of like the Eskimos entire defensive line - their rock-solid defense, after all the defensive line injuries (including all their backups), has been swiss cheese since about week 7.
