This tower isn't quite as structured as the BofA.

BofA is a better design, but these are early renderings, so hopefully this gets refined & improved.

It doesn't really look like the BofA.

BofA is bulky. This thing is broad. If that makes any sense. And regarding the second to last rendering: Since when does everyone in the world drive an Audi? Oh wait..I do see a VV Golf there.

^ Yeah, that's what I meant when I said that it's not quite as structured as the BofA.

The best part about this proposal is the tearing down of a nasty 80's pomo building to be replaced by beautiful Modernist revival (jk about that term)!

Its about time we start trashing all of the pomo buildings instead of trashing Modernist buildings...

^Except that the proposal calls for tearing down a 1960's bulky hotel. Nothing to do with postmodernism.

no way. they are so different. i mean you would have to cut BOA in half down the middle to get Korean Air because it's wider. it's at most, half as similar. no resemblance whatsoever - the only similarities are in their overall silhouettes, their sloping roofs, the way their spires are positioned at the peak of their sloping roofs, their cladding, their height, and their renderings. aside from that, they're totally unrelated.

Obviously they aren't "twins". But the similarities are there. They are more like each other than they are to any other recent developments or proposals.

The spire should be beefed up a little.

^i was sarcastically referencing some of the forumers in denial here. this is painfully inspired by the BoA building in NY. AC martin is not what i would consider to be a very innovative firm. still would be great if it goes up though.

5 years away. Let's hope. That's far enough away that hopefully the economics involved will make this building possible. It is a great design regardless of whether it's derivative. There's nothing quite like it in LA and that is enough to make me happy (aside from the height and bulk of the towers which also make me happy). I skipped around in the thread so was there talk of financing or is this just random pie in the sky proposal #54832 for LA?

anyone that denies the resemblance is blind.

Anyways, this is a much better use of that corner, considering the convergance of all the rail lines at the metro center, the 7th street revival and the way the current design sucks up the life from that corner. hopefully funding will be lined up.
