Much appreciated Mojeda! Looks like it's almost time for the concrete pour.

Still a few months left before that happens. The concrete pour is supposed to start on December 17th. When they're finished digging, the hole will be around 85 to 100 ft deep.

The timeline given to the LA Times had concrete work starting in November.

If the hole really is going to go 85 ft down, they have a ways to go, based on that last picture. Looking at the scale of the yellow pickup truck in the upper right corner, I'd say they're only down about 40 ft. max.

Here is some interesting info. I guess this is the structural engineer for the project, with renders and models.

http://bjsce.com/portfolio/high-rise...-with-gallery/

Wilshire Grand Redevelopment Project

Services Provided: Structural Engineering

This will be the tallest building in the Western United States upon it's completion in 2017.

Brandow & Johnston is proud to be the Structural Engineer of Record (SEOR) for this iconic building that will propel the Downtown Los Angeles skyline into the 21st Century. We are pleased to be working alongside AC Martin in bringing this project to life. We are excited to see it move forward and we are watching the progress carefully out of our 18th floor office windows at 700 S. Flower. We will have to part with our current view of the Hollywood Sign as this addition to the Downtown Los Angeles skyline goes up over the next few years, but you won't hear a complaint from us!

Please visit the links below for all the detailed information available on this project as well as some beautiful renderings of the building's exterior features and interior spaces.

Looks interesting, though the model still looks too short considering the height. Guess we'll see. These models are notorious for never being to scale.

I think the perspective of the first photograph makes Aon Center look taller than it actually is. The Wilshire Grand's height looks about right in comparison to Figueroa at Wilshire and the Ernst & Young building.

I believe you are right, on a second look. The models show the Paul Hastings Twins looking decently taller than the Fig @ Wil, and we know that F@W is taller (717' to the twins 699'), and all images of DT show it that way. Again, these models are for show, not specs.

So they're already about half way down, and mostly just dirt to remove, not much of the old concrete left to get rid of. Definitely on schedule.

That foundation is enormous. With so many skinny towers going up in the nation I tend to forget about some of the larger projects.

Since these models are in a wind tunnel, I would think the scale is quite accurate. Otherwise, the measurements would be useless and it is very expansive to rent wind tunnel time...

Right. You'd think that they'd also account for elevation changes in their base.
