kick beachcombers out and make it a two-floor brew house concept that the forks rightly needs!!

Would have been an ugly "spot" on the skyline of The Forks.

Beides, it's "brown" and we don't like that colour.

That was a very nice restaurant but it's a bit at odds with the younger, more casual direction that The Forks is going all in on these days.

In the West Broadway area, at 80 Sherbrook, there is a proposal for a 5,000 sq. ft craft brewery and tap room making it's way through City of Winnipeg approvals process (at Board of Adjustment). Kilter Brewing Co. will operate it.

thank god. i don't know whose idea it was to build a giant unconventional 546-designed brew pub and THEN look for a tenant, but it was a bad idea.

it would be great to have an onsite brew pub, but it should be built to suit AFTER they have a brew pub confirmed for the site.

Major work going on in both commercial units in the Scott block at Main and Graham. Excited to see what these new businesses bring to that stretch. Put this is in this section cause I'm assuming that they're restaurants/coffee-related from what I remember reading previously. Crossing my fingers for a Parlour/Forth type vibe.

Rustic Cafe and Bakery on Portage Avenue closed. A new place has moved in called Little Goat. I think Little Goat was going to locate on Osborne, but the deal fell through.

Little Goat is the new place by the team that originally looked after the highly regarded Bistro 725 in Fort Rouge.

So I looked at their menu. $3 for a glass of milk or coffee or orange juice. Is that normal for an independent restaurant?

Tried Kevin’s for dinner. The Stella’s concept restaurant on Bannatyne that replaced Boon. Nice space. Good food. All macaroni and cheese dishes. Cost $50+ for two. One appetizer, two soft drinks.

That seems on the low end. Most places are charging $3-3.50 for pop now. Juices usually add on a dollar and no refills – if you want fresh squeezed OJ, probably $5-6. Even at Sals fresh OJ is $5.99 for a "large" (aka pop glass).

That sucks.

I dunno who was promoting that place, but it should have thrived. Yes the forks is sometimes to busy, but great food and nice location. I hope whatever replaces it gets momentum.

It's annoying that beachcombers does better, and that place is a real life example of "bare minimum" when it comes to realizing it's potential.

Who keeps propping up the egos of those people producing such masturbatory designs? Like, be "out there" but be good at it.
