Looks fantastic – and looks like it's pretty open & airy to the corner of Graham/Hargrave, which is great as there really isn't a lot of space there.

Just out of screen behind the building along Hargrave, I mentioned they were forming some type of wall. Looks like it's a planting bed with raised walls.

Also, they made quick work of the grey cladding on the elevator core. It is complete except for the bottom along the sidewalk, which is being replaced and is next to the planting bed.

Normally I'm not a fan of those kinds of plazas which tend to become windswept wastes of space. But on a corner like that with 5 imposing buildings, that little bit of open space looks like it will enhance the area.

This sounds horrific. How long is it?! Hargrave is a bike route that is already too narrow – aesthetics aside, this just encourages drivers to speed up. It also seems extremely bizarre considering the intersection is going to be a woonerf with a raised street and no curbs.

Shocked the city would allow it, I don't see any benefit or reason for it. It's even worse if the city still hopes to use Hargrave as street market space one day, and reopen cityplace to the sidewalk.

They could close Hargrave from the City Place garage exit to the entrance of the other parking garage. They could make the street two ways.

I don't believe it's anywhere near the road. There's a photo of the rendering of that corner plaza on the TNS website.

Maybe it’s some sort of precautionary protection because the loading docks are there and it’s very tight corners? Ensure trucks don’t end up on the sidewalk, and don’t just try to stop and load there?

I happened to be walking by St. Mary and Carlton this morning when an excavator tore the first chunk out of the ground near that corner. I take it that groundwork for the next phase is now underway?

(It felt like a very special moment, like there should have been a ceremony.)

The planting bed things might just be a tree well down at sidewalk level. It's hard to see exactly what the elevations are.

Just walked by...

Those “walls” are definitely planters, and they’re only about 6” high, like the ones in the Exchange. Must have just been the angle or the sidewalk wasn’t poured yet.

Looks like just about all the plaza paving is done, and the corner by Hargrave wrapping up. This is gonna finish like the day before TDS moves in lol
– like a restaurant opening.

The view from St. Mary beside the cathedral that WpGGuy showed is awesome – cathedral, TNS, and Hydro all together – when the Sutton Place towers are done that view is gonna look nothing like what we’re used to in Winnipeg. Amazing.

The north side sidewalk on Graham across from TNS has just completely fallen apart- it’s a mess. Wondering if the rest of Graham is going to get SHED-style stretscape upgrades soon?

The north side sidewalk of Graham was torn up early in the spring by a contractor doing underground utility work between a MTS manhole on Hargrave and one on Carlton. I would expect that it will be repaired sometime this summer.

^They filled in the work they did with asphalt, but it's crumbling everywhere else now, hah.
