With this photo-thread I wanted to celebrate the Haiti I know. While things are looking quite grim for half of Haiti's southern peninsula.. I wanted to counteract (just a little) the constant barrage of the "disaster narrative" the country has received for decades. Haiti is much more than just "disaster".
These are mostly from my last trip to Haiti where I spent 2 months (Jan and Feb of this year).
Places represented include Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, and Fond Melon. The latter is a tiny place nestled in the mountains between P-Au-P and Jacmel, inaccessible by car (have to walk 45 min over a mountain), and what felt like a world away from the former two in terms of culture.
