Nice, I just quoted that same section in the Austin Update Thread...but I hadn't seen that you beat me to it on this thread.

It's called East 6 (silly name for an East Austin building) and here is the link to the marketing for it: https://aquilacommercial.com/property/east-6/

East Austin is a vibrant cultural hub, intermixing established retail and residential blocks with new development that enlivens and elevates the surrounding area. BOKA Powell and design partner Levy Architects have been engaged to create a new 81,000 square foot structure combining commercial office, retail, restaurants and structured parking as a centerpiece in East Austin, just half a mile from downtown.

Austin: Residence Facility for Homeless to Begin Construction

Quote:
Austin (Travis County) - The general contractor for an East Austin 50-unit residence and treatment facility for the formerly homeless will be taking bids from subcontractor trades through October 26.

Integral Care, a Travis County-based community mental health organization, has been colloborating with Duke C. Garwood Architects Inc. on the design of a four-story, 63,917-square-foot concrete reinforced podium structure at 3000 Oak Springs Drive.

Anne Nagelkirk, Integral Care's Communications and Engagement director, said the project site was formerly a support services center of the organization that is being repurposed. There were two existing structures. One has been demolished and the other is scheduled for demolition. The estimated cost to build the facility is $17.5 million, Nagelkirk said.

Integral Care is finalizing its capital funding campaign, which should be done by December. There was a tentative construction completion date announced earlier of the fall of 2018, however, Nagelkirk said the project schedule will be updated after the funding campaign.

Such a weird design. It's like a 70's contemporary house.

Maybe it's just the style of the renderings that makes it feel that way. But I think the roofs are especially a jumbled mess.

I had not been down E. 6th in about 9 months before driving down through last week. I was amazed at the construction. It's worth seeing in person.

I had the same experience a couple months ago. At that time it had been about year since I last drove down E. 6th. It was unrecognizable. It was in the evening, and it was very busy with a lot of foot traffic (as well as construction.)

Such an amazing transformation. Goodbye oil distribution companies, recycling plants, surface parking lots, abandoned strip malls, empty commercial space and hello all things good!

2406 Hidalgo

Site

Quote:
2406 Hidalgo may bear resemblance to a historic train platform, but it acts as a modern, efficient multi-use building. This new construction is positioned at a light rail crossroads in East Austin with views of incoming trains and downtown Austin. The scope of work includes 3,372 square feet of restaurant space, 28,261 square feet of professional office space, and all associated site improvements.

This kind of matches that

^^ I had to remind myself what this one is going to look like when done and stumbled across this website. Older photos than corvairkeith's update above, but some great shots of what the west-facing views will be like:
