The Thurlow/VCEC plaza frontage was being redesigned as a condition of the DP – so the renderings we’ve seen to date of that part of the project won’t necessarily look like the finished product.

Putting retail at the base probably would’ve required a zoning amendment since the zoning is CD and didn’t allow for retail on the 3HG site. It would be a cool place to have a café or something, but not exactly a hot spot for retail - which is why I'm sure Aspac didn't bother forcing the issue.

That poor black office building (what's its name?)
Instead of views of the harbour and the mountains, its patrons will soon enjoy seeing into someone's living room.

When they should be seeing more offices...All we need now is Harbour Green 3 residents to complain about civic events at the new convention center. That being said most of them will be over seas tycoons who will never be there.

I really feel bad for Renaissance Hotel at Harbourside.....
After the Harbour Green series are all completed...the hotel is not even on "harbourside" anymore

Don't worry, there have been some murmurings of re-developing it...

I hope they take that god awful black office tower with it too, that thing is just horrible.

Any hints as to building dimensions and usage?

To be honest I don't know, but it would have to be somewhat substantial to justify knocking down the existing building, rather than just renovating it. It isnt even that old of a building.

Actually, I don't mind that building. Unless something architecturally FAAABULOUS goes in its place (BONUS points for taller office tower), i don't mind it at all. My reasoning is that it is an interesting break from the sea of blue green residential towers. I prefer a mosaic over a plateau of mid-highrise green glass beasts any day.
It's a rare coloured building in Vancouver as far as I'm concerned.

Now that hideous washed out red-purple building in the west end... yeah, that's a whole other story.

Nice. Looks like it could be above grade before the end of the summer.
