Can see CPT + Verre + 220 CPS brief glimps of Steinway. Also the Roseland development on the far right aka 242 West 53rd Street.

520 Park to the East. Looks complete, and it blends in so well you'd forget its still u/c.

Was in Astoria today, and it's a cool dynamic to see 2-3 story houses or small apartments, tree lined roads (giving the illusion of a suburban town) yet see 432 Park in the distance, and yet be so close to it in a way. Astoria from some streets will have all of these supertalls in sight one day. Queens is cool like that. Can go from tree lined streets, small homes, to skyscrapers real quick.

Kinda like Fort Lee or parts of Bergen County. One minute your in what looks like a forested region, and next your greeted with vistas of highrises stretching for miles.

That's what I love about visiting New York. One second you're in a dense, low-rise neighborhood... then after a 10 min subway ride you're looking up at pencil-thin high-rises and super-talls that boggle your mind.

It's called overly conservative zoning, especially in the outerboroughs. If zoning was relaxed in desirable places like Astoria, you'd see skyscrapers there, too. Well, that and LGA.

And you'd also see prices going down because developers would be able to build more units. It sucks that there's so many people who would love to live in cities like NYC and San Francisco but can't because the overly restrictive zoning laws keep these cities reserved for the rich.

That's absurd. NYC and SF don't have a vastly different income profile than other major U.S. cities, and loosened zoning laws would just lead to more gentrification and superluxury towers.

The idea that NYC or SF would be cheap if you allowed a few more 50 floor towers (developments that don't pencil out unless you're charging millions per unit) is completely delusional.

So are you saying restrictive zoning is better for affordability?

So clever, yet not at all. Anyone who wants to, including yourself, can go out and get photos of your own if you don't like the fare being served.

Well stated. Blows my mind when people are rude to the forumers who actually produce content

I love the curtain wall. I'm assuming that Nordstrom will open while the tower continues to rise above it?

Just the beginning.

NYguys photo below as a reference to the diagram (I feel this one is best to compare and visualize height). Use cantilever as focal point than cross reference with diagram to get the bigger picture.

Oh wow, that diagram really does put it into perspective. Great call, chris08876. This thing is like a Baby Groot version of itself at this point.
