Is this the site for the 34 story tower from that firm out of Shanghai?

Will be great news & a feeling of more relief when....or if....work also begins one block west on the other proposed apt tower at 4th & Hill st. I hope taco house #1's days are numbered.

Great spot, Eightball! The concrete truck is perplexing, but hopefully a sign of pre-construction activity. When we see a drilling or piling rig on site, we'll know things are really getting started.

I just walked by again and they now have several cement trucks there. They may be using the lot as a staging area to repave the alley right there. Hopefully that is in preparation so the site can be accessible for heavy machinery/start real construction, but that is a guess at the moment. I'll keep monitoring and post some more pictures soon

According to the Downtown Development page on Facebook, they are filling in a tunnel with concrete so that they can start construction.

Speaking of proposals. Based off of the first page, even though I know there might be some missing, have any of the proposed projects gotten approval yet? and are any of the approved supposed to break ground this year? we are in Q3 and I know one or two are supposed to break ground this quarter.
I never get when people get sad over cranes coming down. For me, it's a milestone - another step towards the building(s) opening for business, sidewalks opening up, seeing the lighting, etc. If you just get excited for the construction, there's a ton of other buildings that will be rising for a while, and more to break ground.

How about a modern 1250 foot hommage? Mixed use tower. Would be great bordering a revitalized Pershing Square in time for the Olympics. And there is a nice 975 footer that apparently will rise in south Fig. This will cement L.A. as #3 skyline in U.S., behind NYC & Chi-town (SF & Houston & Philly might disagree).
I would love to see a 1300 footer on the World Trade Center parcel. From the East and West between the 110 and Flower and North and South between 1st and 4th need to be demolished.

Speaking of World Trade Center.. I think two super tall twin towers would revolutionize the LA Skyline. THAT would be awesome!

Easily one of my favorite projects downtown.
It’s just soooo....clean. How embarrassing for the dirt covered Merritt Building next to it.

Glad the tenants are in the fashion industry, because they likely won’t put up with anything less than an impeccable storefront. Orpheum really needs it to fully get a sense that it completed the renovation it started 30 years ago. The outside definitely needs the work.

Also Mykita is across the street, so it seems a bit of fashion is finally started to root in this area thanks to Urban Outfitters.

Would still love to see a taller & modern version of the art deco Richfield Tower over 1100 feet.

Shhhhhh be careful, some will take a jab at you because they're tired of seeing twin towers in DTLA.
