I think that's just over-exposed asphalt with a wet strip down the middle making it look like snow.

I think that's just overexposure of sun reflecting off pavement.
South facing pic of dark subject matter.

Second pic, yes definitely; The April 16th pic, no that's definitely snow on the empty lots and rooftops.

Yeah, thought the comment was on the belt pic.

I don't think the Arbutus Station pic was meant to be timely - I think it was just part of a series of pics relating to Arbutus Station and the arrival and extraction of Phyllis and the impending arrival of Elsie. I posted because it was a nice aerial shot that showed how long the deck is along Broadway.

I was thinking, wow that is a long deck/excavation just looking at the pic before reading your comment above!

Folks remember:

- Broadway Subway - Millennium Line Extension to Arbutus (II) | U/C Thread for the most recent newz and pics
- B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure flickr for ancient history pictures

Every time I open this thread these days I am hoping hoping hoping it is the post saying Elsie has arrived! Soon....

The excavation at Arbutus is longer than the station platform itself because it includes the track switches to the east of the station.

I know.. it is just that more poignant seeing it from an elevated vantage point.

Everyone: Have they released a floor plan or track diagram for Arbutus station?

Station layouts:
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/skyt...tation-designs

The Arbutus Station layout shows a centre entrance from buses on Arbutus Street. Walking down to track level at the Broadway end of the station box is probably to a centre platform.

Arbutus Station will be end of the line for this phase which means that the tracks need a criss cross east of the station so that arriving / departing trains can be shunted to the other track rfor the reverse trip similar to Canada Line at Waterfront Station.

The project update includes additional digging for 60 metres west of Arbutus Station for the stub to the UBC phase.

If I recall correctly, the tunnel to the west of Arbutus for the tail track will be constructed by mining, rather than cut/cover.

Potentially they will wait for Phyllis to be completely removed. I haven't had a look to see how crowded it is there but I imagine they need as much space as possible.

I'm out of town so I can't check to see if the conveyor is running.

Very intelligent observation. Makes sense.

Elise Arrives At Arbutus

Quote:
The Broadway Subway Project @broadwaysubway_
#TunnelBoringMachine Elsie has arrived at Arbutus Station!

Elsie’s breakthrough today looked very similar to TBM Phyllis’ arrival in late March, pictured here.

In this shot, you can see Phyllis’ cutterhead poking through and rubble collected inside the pressure chamber.

Apparently Phyliss was taken out of the ground, and trucked away just this morning, but I haven't had a chance to look myself.

Though theses temporary street use permits seem to back that up indicate something was moved, as the contact person works with Apex.
