That could be said about Louise practically any day.

Ski - Salamon xScream 9 (186 cm)
Board - Burton Alp 69 (170 cm)

Though I am 172 cm/78 kgs, I like to go fast, since at my age, bumps and tricks are no longer as fun as they used to be. (Truthfully, they just hurt more!) I have been told by many experts that it is not wise to ski on paras that are longer than I am tall, but really, I find shorter ones just too slow!!

So far I have only skied Sunshine this year. Snow has been okay - but not great. Fortunately every day I've been there has been borderline blizzard so the on hill crowds have been light.

I'm probably going to demo some powder skis in Whitefish next month, but I am not actively looking (yet).

I'm nowhere near good enough to care, so at this point, whatever they rent at the hill.

I do like 'em short though (145s, and I'm 170). Lack of speed has yet to be an issue with me, except for those really annoying flat areas.

You experts out there: are the basic Salomons that Sunshine rents any good of a ski? Or are they the lowest of the low end?

The one time I was there the snow was fantastic.

I've vacated our fine city for the winter and currently residing in Revelstoke. Came out here to snowboard all winter. A word of advice, the hill sucks the big one, don't waste your time or money coming out here. Stay at Lake Louise or Kicking Horse folks.

My goto board is an 158 Arbour A-Frame.
For those special days, I ride a 156 Burton Fish - it's strictly a pow board.
I also have 156 Ride, another 158 Arbour which thanks to Sunshine is a rock board, and lastly a 160 Burton Classic.

A friend of mine was at the Revelstoke hill and said she had never seen snow like that in her life, at least in bounds on a ski hill. That said, there are only 2 lifts and a handful of runs right now.

Revy as great snow, but usually terrible weather (fog/clouds). Does Sicamous have a hill, because 9 times of 10 it has similar snow but blue skies. And Golden's usually colder than Revy of Sicamous.

There's actually 3 lifts and 27 marked runs. I've been riding there almost everyday since it opened and I've yet to hit every run.

The place is huge and unless you know the area and are prepared, I advise against ducking rope. The last count I've heard was 10 people have spent the night in the bush after getting lost out of bounds. One group spent over 14 hours hiking back to the resort.

It does get socked in with clouds, I've only seen the sub-peak three times so far. However there's enough glade that the vis isn't much of an issue. I do recommend yellow lenses in your goggles though.

Stupid weather and lack of friends with 4wd. Tomorrow looks nice and cold, I bet the hills will be nearly deserted.

Envy.

The last 2 pictures of the Glades look great. It's to bad I stopped skiing a few years back.

It's as awesome as it looks. Unfortunately we haven't had any real snow the last couple of days. We had an elusive BlueBird today and while it was nice to see the top of the mountains the lack of fresh pow bites.

It's never too late to start skiing again Mid1. It's like riding a bike, one never really forgets how.

I know it just you get older and you have less time to do certain things. But I still have all my equipment

Heh. Getting older for me has freed up a ton of time. No need to scrape along with multiple jobs, or avoid doing things due to lack of cash. Plus, there's a lot of things I did in my teens/early 20s that I've since "outgrown". I find I have a lot MORE free time with every passing year.

Hence, I started skiing at 32. Great way to keep the body in good shape as it ages, too.
