Dirt has started to turn at the site, so this needs its own thread now.

Now there's something you don't see everyday - a brand new street in a city's downtown core. Part of the redevelopment of the old treatment plant is that Nueces Street is being extended two blocks farther south from West 3rd Street down to West Cesar Chavez Street, and West 2nd Street is being extended three blocks from San Antonio Street to West Avenue. West Avenue west of there will also be extended two blocks farther south to connect with West Cesar Chavez Street. So we're getting 7 blocks of new street sections that will help to connect the west side of downtown to the east side of downtown. Part of the construction on West 2nd Street will include a new tress bridge across Shoal Creek.

I love the setbacks of this building. It mimics a few other buildings in Austin's skyline, most notably the building off of 5th or 6th whose name escapes me.

It's reached it full height along Cesar Chavez, the next floor will be the first setback.

Taken this weekend along I-35 south (2/21/15). Northshore is the building under construction on the right.
