NFL site cited as best in Southland
EIR claims Industry suited for stadium
By Jennifer McLain, Staff Writer

An environmental impact report issued Wednesday calls an undeveloped 592-acre parcel near the junction of the 57 and 60 freeways in Industry the best place in Southern California for a professional football stadium.

I agree, Industry is the perfect place for all of the tailgaters and other assorted football-watching trash to live it up.

I think there is really no need for Walnut to sue, since there are only eight home games a year and mostly on Sunday.

it's a stadium and entertainment complex - methinks the point of this development is for it to be active more than just 8 sundays per year.

The Coliseum's new 25-year lease with USC makes that nearly impossible. Any football team wants to play in Coliseum has to be approved by USC. Even if the lease wasn't an issue, renovating the Coliseum would cost $200-300 million more than the City of Industry stadium, possibly more.

In November 2007, Villaraigosa said the Memorial Coliseum was “no longer a viable option for the NFL," a comment he made when urging the USC Trojans to sign a long-term lease with the Coliseum.

Good. Anything that ruins that historical structure is an idiotic plan. The simple fact that it's one of America's most important sports venues should kill this idea alone. I don't want it looking like Soldier Field . . . ever.

It's over 85 years old, so it is definitely historic.

As someone who drives on that shared 57-60 alignment through Diamond Bar, I don't think that junction can handle any more traffic. Caltrans recently upgraded it with new lanes and a direct HOV connector, but it still backs up for hours starting around 3 pm every afternoon. Building a stadium there is a horrible idea, in terms of traffic.

Games are mostly on Sunday. Highways are like empty. And only total 8 home games a year. There is a Metrolink station near the site and they will use it.

Hopefully then they start operating the Riverside Line on Sundays, because last I read they stopped weekend service for that line in 2002.

Or/And they could build a light-rail line to the site.

Old does not mean historic. My grandmother is 82. She's not on the National Register of Historical things.

LA has made it very clear they do not want to contribute to a stadium.
