A few pictures of the preparation works.

Pictures by Milo92

The construction of the tower will begin in September.
The first tower over 150m in construction since 1973 (opening of Montparnasse tower) and the first tower over 100m in construction since 1990 (Cristal tower) in inner Paris.

Work was stopped due to appeals against the project for several month.
The appeals have been rejected by the Administrative Court, so the constuction work resumes.

Pictures of the site by Vincent on pss-archi.eu.

First, they praise their glass.

Lol, the massing of that thing is such a that they're like - don't worry! Walls will be both transparent and reflective! Really?
Oh well, get ready for another 50 years of NIMBY totalitarianism and terror in Central Paris.

Anyway, nothing much on the site yet.

Hm, this had gone off the radar. It'd actually be under construction according to Le Parisien.

Warning, the scary bulk is indeed under construction, at taxpayer expense. Vincent went in the rain yesterday to report. There'll be some 5, maybe 6 cranes on site for that thing alone.

Specially designed to spur nimbyism even more in the world capital of NIMBYism. Sure the legions of local nimbys will take advantage of this one in the fight. I still hope I'll be proved wrong, but seriously, can you just imagine the effect of that massing on the surrounding mid-rise fabric of the 17th arrondissement? If you think your average Parisian will appreciate, you're quite optimistic at the very least.

That's even the only highrise under construction over entire metro Paris at the moment since the couple of new towers in la Défense is now completed, the still slow local office market not allowing any more office tower construction for now, and the most relevant and ambitious project, privately funded Hermitage is still blocked by legal procedures while except for the little redevelopment of the public space around, it wouldn't cost a dime to taxpayers. Go figure.

Well ? What did you expect ? It's going to be a "public" court house !! It's bound to be built with taxpayer's money !!!!

This being said, it's going to be a gorgeous building !!Looking forward to see it finished !!

What I meant is whether regional or national, the public authorities don't have unlimited budgets, and they're in fact excessively indebted these days over here. Ain't you aware of France's situation at the moment? It's kind of worrying. So I'd rather see the taxpayer money mainly allocated to pressing needs and priorities. Now a new and large annex of the historic courthouse in Paris seems indeed necessary, that's what everybody says. But they could at least have tried something both cheaper and more subtle. Cause this is... How should I say...?

That's just about it. It looks like the damn Supreme Soviet. A neat mid-rise complex may have been both cheaper and more friendly looking, but whatever. This is what we'll have in couple of years from now.

^^^Also with it being a government run project, one can only expect it to be over budget and delayed by many months. There have been very few government projects to come in on budget and time.

The police will follow prosecutors and judges. They're going to leave their historic headquarters:

For this building nearby the new courthouse:

The telegram talks about a bulletproof glass façade, a concrete structure to resist explosions and 300 cameras watching anyone all around.

Wow that is a lot of cranes for this project.

Interesting that they used Luffing jibs compare to fixed jibs, they could have used less cranes and still managed the same amount of area. It must come down to lifts per hour, which makes me think they are in a hurry to get this building up.
