Leo Burnett

J M Tungsten:

Nice job on showing how 111 West Wacker will look.
Leo Burnett is 635 feet high and 111 is 630 feet high. In the two drawings, Leo Burnett is shown as shorter than 111. Do you have the option to increase the height of Leo Burnett. Thanks

Tony

Is it strange that I find it kind of a waste to be exclusively condos? No hotel or office space or restaurants, something with more public appeal. I don't like the idea of the riverfront being lined with private monoliths for the wealthy.

Disregard me, I'm stupid.

Huh? The vast majority of the river front buildings are offices, hotels, restaurants.

The guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, lol. If anything, I would argue that more condos and apartments are needed around the river. Btw, this building will be apartments. Maybe it will go condo down the road when the condo market recovers but as of now it's luxury apartment.

Progress

The sound of jack hammers greats me every morning now, not so loud from 20flr up. The top work is still shrouded but the work on the face is starting.

^ Didn't expect that we'd see the curtain wall this soon. Thanks for the photos!

I imagine it's just a sample? It looks like saran wrap.

Is the new development going to use the existing concrete shell or tear it down and build from scratch?

As I remember, they are doing a complete tear-down of the top two floors of the exisiting shell, and then building up from there.

I just came back from seeing it for myself and I don't really know what to make of the glass yet. It kind of looks like the glass that's going up on Optima in Streeterville.

I also think it is just a sample. Look at the black support steel holding up the glass. It almost looks like it is resting on the top of the slab and on top of the tube embedded in the existing structure. It does not seem like a permanent solution.

I spoke with a worker onsite yesterday. He said that the architects were evaluating several glazing samples before giving the go-ahead for production.

He also said to expect the crane in February.
