For whatever reason, Babcock can't seem to win in the playoffs. This makes four 1st round losses in a row.

He had back-to-back SCFs in Detroit and went to the SCF in his first season in Anaheim. I don't think Babcock is the problem.

10 years ago. Hasn't been past the 2nd round since.

I'm not saying he's not a great coach. We know that to be true.

He's just not able to get it done in the playoffs. Similar to Boudreau in that regard.

And similar to 90% of the coaches in the league. Those that even make the playoffs anyway.

At least the Raptors are one win away from the 2nd round.

The Leafs are in their 2nd year of a rebuild, no one should have expected them to have a true cup run. They really jumped the gun early on getting guys like Placenshit.

They'll have to bring in more young guys, give them bigger roles, and start plugging in the holes on the team with real long-term solutions.

51 years and counting.

Considering they picked top 10 each time between 2014 and 2016 - and drafted their core of Nylander, Marner and Matthews - I wouldn't say this is year 2 of the rebuild.

So your local bar's TVs generally show a news channel as regular programming?

LOL

I'm a bit of a news junkie but even I wouldn't go down to the ol' Regal Beagle to watch me an hour of news.

Especially without the sound! (I assume.)

^ It's kind of fun to imagine a crowd of people gathered around at a Toronto bar all focusing on The National on a regular slow news night when the lead story is a new tax incentive to buy solar panels or some such.

I smell a whole new market niche for licenced establishments. Though you and I may have a different definition of "fun"!

There's a number of sports bars/restos in the GTA that will show CP24 on a TV.... It's just in the background.

One of the screens over the bar is tuned in to CP24. The best part of CP24 are the bulletins. You don't need sound to read them. You watch it for 10 to 20 mins.

Being a bottom 10 team doesn't mean you're rebuilding. In the Leafs case, it just meant the sucked. They still had their share of veterans on the team they haven't gotten rid of yet. Nylander only played at the tail end of the season, Marner and Mathews weren't on the team yet.

This was their 2nd year of the rebuild.

Fleury. You'd think at some point the wheels fall off this thing.

No I think it's a gigantic karma slap to all the GMs feeding their fans the concept that rebuilding takes time.

I think we are seeing the league went too far overboard in giving the Vegas franchise too much in exchange for the $600M franchise fee.

No other team will have access to so many players in a rebuilding effort at the same time, some of which have been converted to draft picks for ongoing success.

When my team (the Sens) entered the league, they didn't get much more than a bag of pucks and it showed for the first 4 seasons.
