This is absolutely true. I read the article as well, and it included the rendering Hudson11 has posted.

Sucks man. Really sucks. It will top out at 996'.

The same article stated that the Four Seasons backed out as well, and the hotel portion will become a Best Western.

WTF.

Nice try at a april fool's joke. The hotel has actually been replaced by the world's first 6-story Wendy's.

Good detail of current steel underneath the cooling towers and spire.
Also new glass on the west end. [Larger versions on Flickr]

Agree. I've never seen an underwater flash mob before. Can't wait to see what CTC/Wendy's has in store for us!

The top portion of Comcast Center is cooling tower. The part where the cladding changes color is pretty much all cooling tower. The building with the higher habitatal floor is CTC. The building with the higher cooling tower is CTC. CTC is rightfully the tallest building.

Also, they would never scrap the cooling towers because they need them to air condition and heat the entire building....unless if this actually happened they could probably put them on each terrace

The Dalian pool is open!

It's been mentioned before - but we need that blue tape to get pulled. The lower portions where the silver steel braces (final version) are exposed really makes this building "pop".

I went by this today, and while there's definitely work going on (the elevators were running up and down frequently), it must be all internal, because tehre really is no visible progress being made on the exterior, probably since the last time I walked by a month ago.

Was it ever confirmed if it's just a glass shortage, or steel shortage, or the "plumb" issue? Or is this part of the plan just to focus on internal stuff?

The glass windows need to be built, loaded and transported over to the city.
Not sure how much time it takes to produce that much material for a major skyscraper.

Correct, they were working today, 7 days a week. And the glass is actually starting to climb again. You guys need to chill.... literally they are working 7 days a week!

it does seem like that especially when you're as impatient as me but if you really look closely they have made progress even to the exterior over the past month; the glass is (slowly) climbing, and more importantly they've added the steel supports (they look like little horizontal platforms sticking out of each floor on the north and south faces {west end}) which is what they're attaching that bump-out section of glass you see that has been moving vertical. Also they have been welding more bracing between the upper floors where I'm assuming more glass will be affixed... It looks like they've added a few cage looking things to the east face which form the vertical supports for the facade though it does appear that they stopped at 6 per side some time ago. Finally those columns have gone up on the west end that presumably are framing out the cooling tower.

I look at that tower cam every day waiting for some ah-ha moment that never comes, but as the interior appears to be moving fast & furious they are indeed chipping away the part we all wanna see as well

Edit: I stand corrected, the facade supports on the east face have also continued to climb, they're now visible on the tower-cam so they're on the move as well

It wouldn't surprise me if there is a glass shortage. Just look at FMC which is still missing a big chunk of glass from its roof section.

I always get a kick when people say that the cost of union labor in Philly is one of, if not the chief reason why high-rises aren't being built on every other corner in CC when so many construction sites are working 6 and 7 days a week and often 10 to 12 hours a day.
Sure if labor costs were lower the builders and developers would be glad. But when they are so willing to pay time overtime then labor costs probably aren't the main concern.
Yesterday (Sat.) I stopped in at the new Penn hospital site, just a hole in the ground, and there looked to be a sizable crew working away.
