Exactly. Really disappointed with Staples coverage so far.

^ What coverage? Here's a summary of his editorials so far:

- Keep ECCA open
- Why we should keep ECCA open
- Envision still wants to keep ECCA open
- Election all about keeping ECCA open
- ECCA issue overshadowing arena debate while ECCA should be kept open?
- Election results show residents still want to keep ECCA open somehow

Personally I think Staples is a refreshing change from the editorial group-think that the Journal has devolved into recently.

While you may not agree with his political positions on issues such as ECCA, at least it's a counter-point to McKeen/Simons/Babiuk who are equally interchangeable in their voice and opinion.

Frankly even though I support retaining ECCA (at least in some form i.e. a single runway airport), I would like the issue to go away for at least a year or two while we work to get a new NHL arena built, new LRT lines and a go-ahead on the Expo bid...

Yeah, I can't say I'm a fan of the local editorials in the Journal - they all seem to tread the same water. Oh well, as they say. Multiple sources and all.
